I am in the same boat as you brother. Approx 10 year usage, 23 now. If you are as young as me, i have bad news for you. Because you started PMO at this young age when your brain was developing, your brain developed alongside your porn addiction. I'd say 12-24 months before fully recovered. 12 months being more realistic and 24 months if you were an extreme case.

Goodluck and dont get discouraged! It's a lifestyle change anyway, you should not start fapping again after you have healed.

I started watching internet porn in 2006. Got a form of e.d. in 2016. I am 34 now, still am not able to shake this habit. Do I also need two years to heal, you think?

Dude I understand that everyone recovers from it as long as they give up can take two three or four years but it does not matter should not be afraid we should rejoice that it is reversible and do everything to not return to it

For the fact you're here indicates you are as fed up with pmo I guess just like I and everyone here and since it's a deliberate choice you made, you will keep trying to make good your choice. You will fail alot however as long as it's considered abnormal act to you and you're not comfortable with it, in time you will kill the urges both with fear of failures, guilt of unfaithfulness to yourself and every nagative feelings of it's ripple effects.

you will see gradual improvements over your journey. expect maybe 12-16 months. 24 is for the extreme cases

20+ years here, also still constantly relapsing. I've had a few addictions in my life, cigarettes, alcohol, some mild over the counter painkillers, and I beat all of it except this one. The fact is that, for me PMO is the only thing that is not a crippling addiction; cigarettes made me take smoke breaks and got me sick at one time, alcohol gave me hangovers and GERD, painkillers my overall health and probably contributed to my GERD, but masturbation has not yet bothered me so much. Yes, I did go to the bathroom during work hours to masturbate at times, but it never affected my career. Yes, my penis would be sore from over-masturbation but it heals quick enough so it never became a long term problem. Which becomes sort of an excuse not to stop. The thing is, I always wanted to stop, but the urges completely derail me from the objective. We are all in this together and I think this guy said it best:

I'm 33, probably started when I was 14 or so. I'm just over 3 months in, and already feel way better. Am I still "recovering"? Sure, but already this is more of a back-burner project. Do I still feel the urge to cave in and PM? Absolutely, but no where near the all-consuming way it was near the start.

So accept that it's going to be a long journey, but also that it will get easier in the long-term.
