Getting a bit off the rails with the gun laws debate, but just in case there was any doubt - this guy owned his guns legally. He was allowed to obtain a gun licence in the UK, despite the supposed strict scrutiny, despite the fact that he was posting deranged and hate-filled rants online, despite his criminal record for assault in 2020. This sort of thing is exactly the reason that the UK restricted legal ownership of guns in the first place. If gun licensing did its job, and he had to go apeshit with a kitchen knife instead, he would barely warrant a mention in the local press here in the UK.

 

He's no adonis but he looks alright doesn't he? A decent haircut and a smart outfit away from looking perfectly presentable. He's not obese, he isn't covered in acne scars, he isn't prematurely bald.

I agree that "incel culture" is an absolute cancer, and I'm happy that most people here give it a very wide berth.

 

Find it absolutely incredible that there are people on this site who seem to have very little sympathy for people with mental health issues considering the nature of the site we are on. Yes, the guy was a murderer. He was also severely mentally ill. I'm not saying that excuses what he did but he was only one or two steps further down the rabbithole than a lot of us here. The guy needed help, not to have it insinuated he was some sort of incel freak.

Isn't that the point though? If he had no gun, he would have likely used something else. It's almost like limiting access to weapons doesnt work when someone who wants one will find a way to get one, regardless of the legality. The fact a knife attack would have garnered less attention says a lot about the nature of crime in the UK as well. (inb4 ban high capacity assault knives.)

Seriously though, people who have no real-world experience of this kind of thing have literally no idea what they are talking about when they say calling the police works. They think these situations play out like it's a videogame or something, when they dont. In the moment it's you or them, and I'm sorry but I'm never going to choose them over me. I can only be thankful that I myself have not had to make a choice like that, but when it was made for me (see the story earlier in the thread) my dad made the right choice.
