Attracted to my sister

It would be more common to be attracted to a cousin than to a sibling, for reasons I once described HERE. I can honestly say my sister always repulsed me--probably because of her feminist (in my opinion) attitudes as much as anything.

I don't think it's common to be attracted to a sibling. Not having been in your shoes, I would still tend to agree with others here that it must have been the porn that set you in that direction. Lay off the porn, for yourself as much as anyone else, and DEFINITELY put up a high fence around doing or even thinking about untoward actions with your sister. Don't breathe even a word about it to any of your friends or acquaintances. If your family were to learn of it, your relationship with them would be permanently affected, and you would never be able to live it down nor put it out of their memories. It would forever stain your character in others' minds.

Be thankful you did not cross that line you had been tempted to cross. Now, take a few more steps back...stop looking admiringly at her beauty. You don't need to ignore her, but choose to put any inappropriate thoughts out of your mind at their first entrance.

Some of the tips provided in the links in my signature might be of good encouragement to you. You CAN make a change in your life and character, though it will take some effort. The sooner you start, the easier it will be.

If you don't cut this shit out now and other P-twisting affecting you, you are seriously going to be damaged in any future relationship that you may explore one day. I'm not sure if there could be, but right now you seem to be overgeneralising from a sample size of one.

 

Taboo is defined as something prohibited or restricted by social custom. It's something that society feels needs to be prohibited, because it exists. And if it wasn't relatively common, there would be no need for society to make it taboo. So I think it's not right or helpful to say attraction to siblings is "not normal."

The reality is that the libido can and does lead to many attractions. So it's doesn't seem that odd that one could become attracted to a sibling. I was never attracted to my sister, but I have a cousin who I found to be pretty cute at one point in time. I didn't act on it. And the OP refrained from acting on his urge (to vid her in the shower) as well.

That's the key point, I think. You can't beat yourself up over ideas, fantasies, etc. They occur and, whatever they are, they are in some sense natural. You don't have control over them. You do have control over what you do however. So focus on that, and stop judging.
