I just deleted all of my porn videos from my mobile phone. I actually did it a few times before but I feel it had backfired somehow. It's because when you want to undo it, you simply go and download some newer stuff which will lead to more relapses than would be happened with your old videos.

So I need some tips to prevent that. What to do to make it less likely to go back there on porn sites and download stuff again. I did some things to make it more difficult like deleting some apps on my phone, and google play is already locked. I'm also deleting my accounts on the porn sites. But can't think of anymore thing to do. Please share your experiences. Thanks.

  3. I also blocked sites and I have read that thread. But I think I am gonna leave blockers now. I will try some self-control. Just saying, because I think this might not be solution to problem. :)

The battle with porn addiction is a battle with your urges, come up with techniques you can use to deal with the urges in the short term, gather several of them as you continue to learn everyday.

I would say trust yourself and don't have any blockers on your phone.

  5. If I am starting to feel the urge to watch porn, I will do a couple of things:

    1. Get away from all technology (computer, phone, ipad)
    2. Do something, anything to distract yourself. I'll clean my house, read a book, take out the trash, just do something and keep busy and the urge will pass.

I am a software developer, so it's almost impossible to do that. I've quit social networks and messaging apps as much as I could (near zero usage). But I have to use the Internet constantly and YouTube too.

This thread is not only about blockers, please give some more advice on the other aspects as well. :)

I m like you , I m damn good with computers. I used screen time (iPhone thing ) to block all search engine (including all URLs of google) . Used all the blockers available. But still relapsed.

the only thing I learned from doing above things was that porn blockers block porn . They don’t take away your dependency on PMO.

The key to quitting PMO is decreasing you dependency. Finding ways to be happy without PMO and cultivating (practising)it.
This can only happen when you cultivate good (positive) habits that’s going to empower you to deal with PMO (like meditation for example).

The more you meditate consistently (for example ) the less you PMO.( it’s true for me, but can’t say for others) .

and yeah what @Quezatolah said. But keep the blockers. Just don’t mind it.

    I'll share my experience,

I had tried everything to keep myself from watching porn or any other adult content. Whether using blockers, deleting fb, insta, restricting the usage of mobile phones and laptop, etc etc. I even completely cut off myself from the internet by removing my sim card, no internet and not even calls. But nothing helped. And to be honest nothing will ever help. But don't get me wrong , I'm not saying you to not try anything, rather going through all this is very very important. At first you'll not get any results and whatever you'll do will fail , but you'll not realise that whenever you fail your brain is learning new information. The concept of no pmo will be getting more and more fixed in your brain. It will not happen suddenly or in one strategy , it ought to take time. So no matter whatever strategy you choose, your brain will learn from it . And eventually you yourself will get to know that not watching porn should not be your main focus, rather as @88991s rightly mentioned, developing good habits should be your main focus. So automatically you'll not think about porn and masturbation.

But the only thing is,, developing or breaking a habit takes time, it'll not happen in a day or two. So have patience and just keep going on and on, don't worry for the results , just keep going and one day you'll see that you broke your old habit of porn and didn't even notice that. Happened the same with me, now I can freely use my devices without thinking about porn. I too didn't master it completely till now , but I rarely watch now and didn't watch it for more than a month. And the main thing is I got complete confidence that I'll completely overcome it in the coming days !! So I'll just say to not give up and keep trying. Wish You All The Best in your journey !!

In almost all of my longer streaks, around 20 days or more, the reset happened unexpectedly. I was totally confident I'll have a much longer streak, I had zero urges, but suddenly I got strong urges! Either I saw some random photo, or something bad happened and gave me stress. Also sometimes I suspect it's because of the food! Like eating too much at dinner. I try to eat my dinner like 3-4 hours before sleep and also have a lighter dinner.

But I still fear the sudden storm come and catch me off guard again. :(

I've been using blockers for a long time, but mostly for productivity in general. They have helped me a lot for avoiding social media and news. But they're good for avoiding pmo too.

I agree blockers are not the saviour! It's not like I have urges to watch porn or read news all the time and it's the blocker who saves me! I usually don't think about them. But if I get urges, usually the blockers are a good shield that protects me.

They can be bypassed but they make pmo harder. That's good enough for me.

Relapse because of excessive food happened to me a lot of times. I don’t know how to deal with it too. Input from more experienced fapstronaut is needed here.

And @Hadrian3 thank you for the tip about dinner , I’ll make sure to implement it.

  13. It seems like you have a good perspective on whats going on with your urges. It also seems like you're in the early stages of withdrawal from PMO and thats worth keeping in mind. Though there will still be challenges later on, things like urges will become easier to deal with in time, provided you've kept building good habits, attitudes and relationships in your life. This is a marathon not a sprint.

Some advice that I can give is to not look at PMO as a way to relax. When we frame it this way, I believe we set ourselves up to PMO, because we're making our sexuality out to be a release valve for our tension, when this isn't the source of the problem and in fact, just makes our agitation worse.

As to the p-blockers, if you find them helpful for productivity then by all means, but I wouldn't come to rely on them as I've never met anyone who hasn't hacked their own password, no matter what length they went to (having a spouse or loved one maintain control of the account, etc).

In my experience, its better you trust yourself not to look. If you're in a relationship, you can keep honest by handing out your passwords to websites so they can keep tabs. In both cases, there's a honor system thats being relied on.

    Thanks...
What is "early stages of withdrawal from PMO"? I am now on day 2 actually and I'm just just getting warmed up. Deleting the stuff and also deleting the accounts is a plus to be more prepared (it makes this time different from the previous attempts). My best streak is 38 days. I'm also making the relapses shorter which is the most important progress I think.

  15. blockers can always be undone or worked around when the urges hit hard. Also deleted porn can come back. Best option stay away or limit phone/computer usage. Find activities to replace internet.

  16. The best way I can answer that is to reiterate that this is a marathon not a sprint. In my experience, PMO is a coping habit for larger emotional and spiritual issues. Cross that bridge when you get to it though. I'm already assuming alot about you by saying that much, though I believe its necessary to say all the same.

Also, if you haven't already, get yourself an Accountability Partner, even if don't think you need one, and preferably one with more experience than you. Trust me, you'll need one.

That eating habit thing, happens with me also. In my case after around 20 days, I crave for Sweets (because I love them so much) and all the delicious junk food. And if I eat them, I always relapse for sure. But this time whenever I feel hungry, I eat normal meal and not Sweets or junk food at all. And it is working perfectly fine until now. So I think quantity does not matter, we can eat until we are satisfied but what we are eating do matters. What anyone else think about this ? I would like to know. Thank You !
