Cold Showers

    Since I started my nofap journey more than 15 months ago I have been taking cold showers. Upon first starting my journey I was acutely aware that this was something I needed to do in order to succeed.

    Over the days I would gradually reduce the temperature of the water until it was customary to just go straight cold. First 15 seconds, then 30 and then 1 minute and so on. The reconfiguration in my brain was instant! There is nothing on earth like the visceral impact of cold water slamming against my naked skin - I use the word slamming because even though cold water is as soft as hot or warm there is something about the cold that doesn’t embrace the body like hot water does. You almost feel pushed to get out straight away at first, unlike the warm relaxation of an inviting hot shower or bath.

    Over time I gradually increased the amount of time I’d spend in there, from 1 minute upto 2 minutes and then 10, 12, 15 etc. Today I crossed a new threshold when I stayed in the shower for 25 minutes and 8 seconds, only getting out when my balls really ached and my feet were numb. I kept my head under the shower for the entire duration and there was no panic . Being 6ft 6in tall my head was at the shower-head and met every shooting drop of water the second it came out. It even felt a little claustrophobic because my senses were encased, or so it felt, in ice. I couldn’t see, hear or smell. I could only breathe through my mouth and there was never a time when I felt more discomfort. Or closer to it, when I felt more comfortable with discomfort. I even felt great when I looked down afterwards and saw my penis had shrunk to minus 2 times it’s normal nofap size. It’s absolutely brilliant and makes me realise and understand why God filled the oceans with cold water - so we could bathe in them and enjoy the benefits those temperatures gift our bodies and minds. I have them two times per day in the morning and at night before bed and never is my mind so still, clear or meditation-ready.

    Those who don’t use cold showers I encourage you to take them now! The benefits are instant. For more information on the biological impact of cold water on the body I advise you to look up The Wim Hoff Method, he’s the real Ice Man and his book his ridiculously informative and also accurate.

    I don’t even refer to the cold shower as a ‘cold shower’ anymore. To me they are nothing short of a real ‘DEEP COOL’ because that is exactly what they give me, a real Deep Cool. Go get em brothers!

  2. I've been enjoying a good cold blast for a minute or so to complete my showers for the past month or so. It's the best. Talk about a great way to get going for the day. And very beneficial after a good work out as well. Cheers, brother!

    I started taking cold showers during the summer because of the intense heat, but it's october and I'm still taking them. I intend to keep doing so all year long.
