It took me several attempts and years to stop smoking and the current “quit” I’m on now is 11 yrs going. I notice the pmo cravings are a lot like nicotine cravings . and like nicotine cravings my pmo cravings are becoming less intense and farther apart as time goes on without pmoing. I’m hoping like my old cigarette habit that days will come where the thought to pmo are no longer a thing. I never think about having a cigarette these days. Can you imagine living without that pmo monkey on your back and recalling it was a addiction of yours? Go all day, everyday without craving or thinking about it anymore?
Does it ever get like that old timers?

I don't know about old timers but I'll chime in. It's my experience that, yes, the craving for the addiction does subside but there still remains the inclination to seek sexual gratification in unhealthy pursuits if healthy ones are not available.
I like your sign or whatever you call it on your identification. I understand that to quit smoking requires a lot of self discipline and will power so I salute you on that accomplishment.

One thing I know is that, you have to seek for help from someone to be able to overcome this addiction. If you are going to do it alone, the failure probability is 97%. The owner of this site sought help and also worked hard personally to be able to overcome this addiction. The battle will rage on for years but by increasing your understanding of this addiction and getting help and being disciplined and having an exit plan, you have better chances of winning.

As someone who's quit pretty heavy nicotine addictions quite a few times I've never been able to quit pmo. NoFap is alot harder than quitting smoking imo . When you quit smoking the nicotine withdrawals subside and all cravings stop . Don't think that's case with NoFap

Thanks for the replies. My wife does now know I’m hooked on porn after discovering me and she also knows I’m in the process of stopping. I think her knowing is the reason I’ve gone two months so far. A record for me. Plus soon if I don’t cancel I got a appointment with a shrink in a few weeks who I will share it with.

Both are bad for you….you always want the last one to be the last one for good. You plan a day to quit. And you feel horrible when you relapsed.
Ironically smoking in considered the evilest of the two these days.

If you do not seek help outside, you can’t be able to beat it. Relapse and binging to porn is just days away. If you open up to someone about it. You will overcome.

In your case then yes, go to a doctor and take her support seriously, man!. You can do it : ). That's not something worth losing a relationship for.

Thanks for this post @Addictus . It really helps me to understand that what I am experiencing is a powerful addiction that takes time to break.
