eating alone in the resturant

Discussion in 'Loneliness' started by sam30, Aug 21, 2021.

  1. No. I remember seeing this gentleman sitting alone at a restaurant, he was enjoying himself thoroughly. I was with my family and I thought nothing of it. Definitely seemed down to earth from what I saw. If your going out to lunch by your self, don't worry about other people staring around the corner, they're probably having crazy thoughts in there own minds. Your open enough to go out and sit by your self. This is a huge sign of independence, and confidence. Your certainly not the awkward one they are.

If restaurant owners were clever they would try to do something to accommodate the millions of people who are 'loners' by making it easier for them to eat in their establishments.

They are losing out on a lot of potential business that could be gotten if they helped lone diners feel less self conscious.

I have no problem drinking in a pub or going to the cinema on my own. I've done it most of my adult life. Going to a restaurant, however, is a different story. You just stick out too much.

Normally when I'm on holiday I don't care because I just want good food.
In your hometown I kinda can understand you feel its a bit weird, even though its nothing to be ashamed of.

What I do bring a book, it looks like your busy / intelligent (lol) and you are also doing something usefull in your time when you wait for the food.

Yes, I've found it lonely eating alone in a restaurant. This was due to me craving to have the social experience with friends or a lady. All born out of low self confidence. My time dining alone was all part of the process of building confidence.

stop giving a damn about what people think enjoy the moments, the food in this case, people will say things in any given circumstances, its ur life not theirs.

  13. Eating alone in a restaurant will make you look pathetic, it doesn’t matter if you’re a man or a woman. The reason for it is because there is a stereotype that restaurants are places reserved only for people to socialise, eating is (quite funny enough) not the main reason for restaurants.
