    Hey guys,

I'm on Day 6. I've been binging clean entertainment on this streak. I feel like I have to start chasing my dreams and get to work. But I just can't myself to start again. I worked on a business before and it didn't go so well. But deep-down I want to keep on trying.

How to get over the tipping point and actually get shit done? I stopped the stream of damage that is porn, but now I have to build and get to work.

Whether it be laziness or fear, what advice do you have to get shit done and chase your dreams.

I will step way out on a limb here and quote a cliché, I believe it's from the Marines, "When the going gets tough, the tough get going". Are you serious about: but now I have to build and get to work.? So, if it's worthwhile to you, which it should be , then get to work. I think that you will find this site to be an great help, I did.

I had major issues with lack of action in my mid-20s. Much more productive 90% of the time now. Here's what worked for me.

Getting my base-level energy to a good point. This for me meant changing my diet, exercising more, and getting close to 8 hours of sleep each night.

Planning out my vision. This is a common technique, involving writing down what your current lifestyle is, what you'd like it to be 5 years from now, and what you can reasonably achieve in the next weeks, months, and years to get there.

Finally, actually getting actions done. I've found physically putting myself in an environment to do a specific task is crucial for this. If I want to study, I go to the library, and by the time I'm there - it feels like a total waste of time to either procrastinate or just watch youtube videos - so I study. I can get more done in 2 hours at the library than an entire day at home!

    So in short;
    - Get the baseline energy
    - Have a reason to act
    - Physically move to your place of action

You can also check out the Mark Manson blog. Much of the above I've learnt from there, and the concept of motivation starting with action is a great tool to get started IMO.

You need to change your understanding of laziness and fear. I remember watching a David Goggins video and there was a quote that I will roughly say here - success through struggle, through suffering. When I thought about it it makes absolute sense. Even Dr. Jordan Peterson says that the fulfillment in life comes through pain, through purpose, through struggle and a heavy path that you are following each day. Happiness is close to it. AND IT MAKES SENSE! Because instant gratification that is porn only left you blind to the world and to fulfillment. You felt the void and decided to seek help and change your perspective. Instant gratification is what made us weak - weak minded, weak spirited, weak in body even. So rewrite your thought process - go physically to the gym, go physically to where you have to to start your new business, it doesn't matter. When you push your body and mind to do something it will eventually cave in and forget about the laziness and fear because you are IN the moment of struggle to achieve happiness/success whatever it may be. Good luck!

When you go on semen retention, you will have a period where you will feel like $hit.
You will feel lethargic and unmotivated.
    It will pass.
One thing you could do is to do affirmations/ mantras.
    I do both.

I watched a video which said that telling yourself a believable story over and over can make you motivated.
For example: A financial crisis will happen in year X to me & my family, I need to make preparations and be my best self.

I'll give it a try. I guess it's similar to affirmations as mentioned by Beekind

  7. Well i sugest to do a dopamine realignment and i mean with that stop games movies sugars etc... Bore yourselves to dead, so you do productive stuff like study automatic. It may take some time, tho...

I also struggle sometimes with my addictions just switching to other things like basically internet and games like you mentioned which have pretty similar effects on our dopamine system.

What helped me big time was setting up my morning routine, first thing in the morning I go out rain or shine to get some movement and daylight.
I also do a little meditation and when its good wheater I takesomething to write with me to just capture my thoughts or write down things i'd like to get done this day.
It gets my systems working, is good for the inner clock, a clear head and time to think about what would be important that day.
Instead of getting on the computer straight after waking up. Because that will lead to a foggy mind and dopamine depletion and you are much more likely to spent the whole day just doing that and nothing else.

Even if its just a 5 min walk first thing, will give you good momentum to start with and when you come back you can use that to start another small task.
maybe a bit of cleaning or doing the dishes, something that is quickly done but keeps you in that state of getting shit done without too much effort.
Then you can slowly build on that. Take it easy, even the smallest step helps but be persistent with it.

And also breaking things down into chewable bites. When we think about something big like working on our dreams we see a huge mountain of shit to be done and be like "maybe one more episode of this crappy netflix show, before we climb..." but thinking about what the easiest and most accesible step forward is right now will make that resistance smaller and gives you an actual goal. Maybe its just 1 e-mail or a phone call. If make that you'll be already on the road and most likely want to do the next thing.

That’s more like a fact than a story. And it’s already begun. The state of the world today is more than enough motivation to get your act together, if you want to live that is.

I took some meditation classes some months ago. Basically it's just sitting still and thinking/focusing only on your breath. Yup, that's the definition of boring.
They say meditating regularly has positive effects on the brain. The instructor told us to meditate every day, even if just 5 minutes. I must admit that I was never consistent and gave it up completely. I'll have to take it seriously and make it a habit, even incorporating into my routine.
So yeah, meditation is kinda like boring yourself for the duration of the session (10-15 min). Can be called Bursts of boredom lol.

Breaking down the goal into small achievable victories to get a sense of accomplishment and build momentum. Nice, thanks for the tip

  12. i would cal it more like becoming aware of your thoughts yourself and your surroundings, how many times are we really doing nothing and just be still?

Haha, yea it can be really boring ;) But maybe the instructor was too.
If you wan't to give it another shot I'd recommend listening to Allan Watts - guided meditation on yt, as he talks about meditation being often thought of as this grim duty we merely do to have some vague benefits in the future. But in his view it is just about having fun just being in the now and being amazed by the world and he has a simple and hilarious way of describing that.

But of course you don't need to do these extra things in order to do the things you really want to do, as just building positive habits but never doing the actual work can become another beautiful exercise in procrastination. ;)

You can meditate all day long, so long as you’re not engaging in stressful activities. Doing dishes, cooking, going for a walk, all these things can be meditative. It’s a state of my mind, it doesn’t require you to sit cross legged and hold your fingers together. Tip number 1: stop talking to yourself out loud. It’s a bad habit and it disrupts peace of mind. Don’t say out loud “ok now I have to do this” just do it. The thought in your head is enough. Tip number 2: practice nofap semen retention and this peaceful state of mind will come easy. Tip number 3: relax, don’t react stressfully or in anger to simple things like dropping something on the floor. It’s not a big deal, no need to swear about it or take the Lords name in vain. Just pick it up or clean up the mess. If you can do those 3 things there’s a good chance you’ll easily reach the “flow state.” Which is basically a meditative state.
