Masterbating without Porn is such a chore.

The big thing I noticed in this journey so far is, that it takes so much effort and mental energy to masterbate just using one’s imagination without porn. If I use porn, I easily masterbate 2-3 times a day, but if I use just my imagination for masterbation, I generally only masterbate once every 2-3 days. That’s why I think the people who say that: hardcore cold turkey (no PMO) is the only way to succeed at nofap; are wrong.

Cold turkey works for some people and that’s great, but if you’re like me, and you’ve been in a rut for 3 years, don’t be afraid to think outside the box. Maybe the advice you’ve been getting isn’t going to work for your particular personality or current life circumstances. I believe my personality is better fit to first quit porn, then in so many months work on masterbation.

With that said, is masterbation even really the end of the world? Yes I know masterbation and porn are linked, but humans have been masterbating since the beginning of time; it’s this new thing called internet porn that is the real destructive thing as far as I’m concerned.

With that said though, I do believe life is better with no PMO, but how one gets to that point of no PMO is not a: only one way fits all journey.

So that’s what I was thinking about today. Appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

The reason I wrote this post is because the first time I went the approach of masterbate, but no porn; I put together a 30 day streak without to much effort. So I know from experience it does work. And I know from experience that instead of masterbating 2-3 times a day with porn; masterbation without porn, I naturally only jerk it maybe 4-5 times per week. Thats going from masterbating 60-80 times per month, to 16-20 times per month. I know that’s not good enough on it’s own. But right out of the gate, simply trying something new, that’s a huge decrease over night.

That's a bit bold because you may push other people that are weak in their resolve to follow your path.

I am not saying that it's wrong because everyone has their own journey to success with rises and falls.
To me though your statements sounds like you are trying to convince yourself that everything is fine. Which it is, don't get me wrong but with a slight twist.
Yes, you are right that everyone has their own pace and everyone can gradually learn to masturbate less then eventually abstain completely and not go cold turkey from day 1.
Yes, it is alright if you relapsed, we are neither judge nor jury to say you did bad but let me ask you - what revelation did you achieve with that?
Why are you looking for feedback if you feel alright with all this?

Because I know for certain that masturbation is not "really the end of the world" but I can apply the same logic and ask you:

Is it the end of the world if you stop it?

  4. Apart from the spelling (it's mastUrbation not MASTERbation), you're totally right. Yes, there are good reasons to do a reboot without MO or even any arousal. There are good reason to even abstain from sex in a relationship or from casual sex, during reboot. But that DOESN'T MEAN that that would be a rule of nature. Of course there's more than one way, and it always depends on the individual and the circumstances.

"Nofap" never was intended to be an anti-masturbation movement. I think at first it was a new approach to the porn problem of some guys on the internet, which in its nature is also a problem of "masturbating in front of a screen" and it fit well with the idea of "full reboot" which is somewhat scientifically (for example Gary Wilson would tell you to abstain from all sexual activity for a time to reboot your brain). Later Alexander Rodes copyrighted the term when he created this website. And this is a platform which is clearly dedicated to porn addiction and recovery. To this day it has officially NO anti-masturbation agenda or something like that. But many here have. Some think, when you retain your semen you'll be somehow special.

But whatever works for you. One word from recovery goes like this: control what you can control
    -
maybe that serves you better than rigorous prohibition.

If it's such a chore then why do it?

It sounds to me as though you've fapped beyond your natural libido and the only thing propping it up was porn, now you've taken that away you are left with the reality of a dead sex drive.

  8. Each of us makes up his own mind about this. Life is much better without porn. Masturbation is a lot easier to take or leave. If you aren’t interested in celibacy then that sort of abstinence doesn’t make any sense to me. Maybe if you are regularly getting laid by one or multiple partners then there isn’t any need for it. Maybe it’s worth the effort to redirect sexual energy away from masturbation and into other activities. In fact to some extent I am certain that is true. But feeling like a failure or a bad person because you rub one out every few days doesn’t sit right with me.
