(First of all, English isn't my native language)
I am new here and I finally want to stop.
I watched porn my entire youth and fapped at least once a day. During the Corona Lockdowns this behavior has become even stronger.
That was also the first time when I tried to quit porn. It worked at first but I started to watch again after several weeks. Also I didn't tried to stop fapping since I jave heared that it's actually healthy. I used to think that I was doing something good for me.
However since then I started a rythm in which I only watched porn every 2 weeks for a few days and then stopping before watching again in another 2 weeks. I still fapped every day though.
I tried to stop several times to quit for real, and I think I did it now. I haven't watched in over 1 month. This rythm kinda was a slow withdrawal for me.
Now I also want to stop masturbate.
I did it my entire youth (wich wasn't great at all) and perhaps this might improve my life. I'm 4 days into it. At first it was easy but sometimes it's really tempting.
Now there are scientists that say it's a good thing to masturbate often. Others say it's bad for me.
I think both are right. I did it my entire youth in which everyone is still developing. That probably had many bad influences for example on my cognitive functions. I could have been better school and so on.
So what is the best way to get a better life. Make a hard withdrawal and then starting in a more healthy pattern (only fap 2-3 days)?
Thank you if you've read this to the end!

    Tgltn here,
Yes medical science says that it doesn't have any side effects but to my experience and experience of the people i know say something else. When someone masturbates he ejaculates semen , sperms and fluid and most of ejaculation contains semens and fluid and you know what semen is made of?
When we eat something our body converts the food into zinc, protein, calcium etc and these things then converts into semen after 66 days ( a complete semen circle is 66 days long)
So when we ejaculates we literally ejaculates the ingredients that are essential for our growth

Dude just don't give up. Its you who got your self addicted and you have to now go the other way and get yourself not addicted.
What i can advice you is to stay as busy as you can. Start learning new skills. Help in community social works. Take responsibility in family. Workout. When you are busy, NoFap journey days pass fast, believe me.

The only medical side effects would be screwing with your brain chemistry, mainly dopamine and ED if done excessively. Where do people always get that stuff about vital nutrients from?

The best way would be your way ;) focusing on the things you value and building healthy habits that you can enjoy.
I suggest a full reboot, just because it gives you enough distance and clarity to reframe your pmo habits and will most likely make you feel good about yourself.
No harm in commiting for a full 30 days and give it your best, its worth it ;)

Let me tell you this. Maybe occasional fapping like 2-3 times a month isn't all that bad but doing it daily is surely unhealthy. Its unnatural and unheard of in the animal kingdom. No animal mates every day. Our body needs time to recover after an ejaculation. This becomes doubly important if you want to impregnate a female to have a child. The quality of both semen and sperm should be top notch to have a healthy kid. I encourage you to reduce your frequency of fapping. I'm trying to do the same. I aim to reduce it to once a month and no porn of course. My quality of life definitely improved after reducing fapping frequency. My workouts were better and I didn't get the occasional runny nose as often. Every time I relapse I try to point out the trigger and my next steps to improve and I post it here. I'd recommend you do something like that too.
