  1. A question for (ex) smokers here, I'd be curious how difficult giving up PMO is compared to giving up cigarettes

Obviously a huge minus is that with PMO you've got your cancer stick right between your legs, with all the imagination and memories of P in your head. Whereas if you wanna get cigarettes, you need to actually get out and buy them plus lighter

Cigarettes cost money whilst PMO doesn't, it's just as expensive as your internet bill if at all

Cigarettes are much safer than porn.
    Porn is a monster.
It depletes the man of his manliness and lead him to dark places....not to mention the zero motivation and the ED and also killing intimacy between married couples.
Cigarettes are only dangerous healthwise but mentally, it doesn't cause much of a damage.
How many men and women you know who smoke but are wonderful fun people??? Plenty
How many men and women you know who are addicted to porn and still social fun and productive? Not many.

Smoking actually kills people! Porn effects the mind but I never heard of anyone dying for watching it though. Unless a angry spouse walks in like in my case!

That depends on whether you end up in the realms of paid sites or clips sites where actually, it does end up costing a lot on top. i know there's endless free stuff out there, but can easily be the case the PMO addiction comes with a price tag too. Depending on where you live, that could be more £ than cigs

They dont sell cigarettes in my pocket
They dont sell cigarettes on my work computer
They dont sell cigarettes on dating websites

quitting cigs was a walk in the park compared to PMO for me. the baitclick is everywhere for models, tinder, and PMO. not the same with cigs.

  7. I rather was asking "Which addiction is more severe and harder to quit"

But on the other hand, there's a thing called autoerotic asphyxiation, STDs if you will "live it out" in real life, and in general maybe higher suicide rates?

  8. May be a strange question, but how does nicotine withdrawal compare to PMO withdrawal (on a physical and mental level, what you've already written is clear)

Number one problem i always get and always gets me relapsing is that if I quit PMO, I get very sentimental and sad, like being able to connect to my inner child, and eventually ending up crying forever because "the world is cruel". It's pretty clear that I'm using PMO to surpress my emotions and true feelings.

The physical level is pretty similar to PMO but cigs felt more mental and i dunno it was just a lot easier to quit (but still very difficult).

What you describe is normal for addictions, we use them as a crutch to self medicate. All recovery involves addressing the core of the problem through therapy, life changes, exercise, etc.
Easier said than done. Stay strong..

I'd say cigs are long term a lot more dangerous health wise. PMO has a bit of a physiological effect but not to the extent of cancers, heart disease, all the shit that comes along with smoking including death of course. But PMO is by far one of the most potentially addictive things out there, only thing that really compares imo is video games. They're both available 24/7 and don't require you to keep buying more of the product to maintain the addiction(depends on the game of course but you know).

I would rather allow my kids to smoke but never to watch porn ( if i have to choose).
You find plenty of good men and women who smoke but they are still good and highly functional...
I have never seen a porn addict who is still happy and functional.
Never seen a porn addict who has a healthy relationship with partner.
Never seen a porn addict who is happy by the subtle joys of everyday life.
Cigs may end up killing you, porn kills you every day.

  12. True. Porn kills your happiness, but cigarettes can actually give you lung cancer and kill you.

  13. The nicotine withdrawal pangs at the start are pretty intense, and actually much stronger than the PMO withdrawal pangs. (For me, anyway). I can almost recall them now, like a really annoying urge that doesn't leave your body, your whole body actually feels restless and tense, and the only thing that you feel will make it stop is a cigarette. Given that, it is just easier to have the cigarette rather than argue with the body, but it is futile as that feeling always returns.

However once you get over that, it dies down in power and then disappears almost to the point where it is non existent. Like now if someone offered me a cigarette for free I wouldn't take it (thank god I don't drink anymore, as being drink has broken many giving up attempts)

PMO is more subtle and a pang can be chased away easier, but the PMO withdrawal period I think is far longer, maybe years for me. I have made it to 90+ days a couple of times but obviously that isn't enough.

One difference I think is that once smoking goes, it is gone from your life, you don't need it. But with sex, it is not gone, we need it to reproduce, we also do it with partners as a part of relationships. Been times for me where having sex has led to the chaser effect.

Yeah I get that. I mean I don't expect much of a different sentiment on a porn addict site. If I had to choose between something that's making my life miserable and something that's literally slowing ending my life and potentially causing health consequences I'll still have to deal with even after quitting, I'll probably just go with the misery. In other words, as a porn addict I do not envy nicotine addicts haha.

I find nicotine and PMO go hand in hand for me, as I was hiding both vaping and porn habits from my girlfriend. It's definitely easier to quit nicotine long term than PMO, although the withdrawals really are like hell the first few days. I saw a bunch of smoking in some Netflix shows this last week that triggered nicotine cravings. I really got to get myself under control....

For me Quit smoking is so damn easy compared to porn
For smoking we must cut our supply of cigaretes, when the urge comes i empty my wallet so i cant buy new cigaretess ...by 3 month i can completly say no when my friends give free cigaretes to me

But porn is different by 3 month i monk mode then my friend gave my some porn and im so tempted to see that and relapse

Sex is a needs, our mamal brain will asosiates things like food, security and sex as a primal needs

But cigar is not in our natural needs so is so easy to cut cigar

  17. Cigarettes are more fair. Warning signs right there on the packet! And they cost money and you have to go out of your way to get them.

Ever go to a P site and get a PIED warning?

Of course cigarettes have a good chance of impacting your health very negatively in the long-term.

P messes you up quickly and in a sneaky way.

In the end, there are going to be many different opinions.

  18. Totally agree with this! Cigarette advertising was put on lockdown in the 80's, but porn seems to have no limits, and is getting pitched to younger demographics every year.

I’ve found that there’s another thing to add to your list of things that are hard to quit; lust and lustful thoughts. Personally, porn was easiest to quit, followed by cigarettes. Lustful thoughts and lust in general has proven very difficult to stop/control. It is a daily battle.

At least the thread doesn't say porn is worst than heroin as some people here say it.

The mind of an addict can be so self-centered and egotistical that they believe they suffer the greatest suffering in the existence of human kind.
