It used to be two people having normal sex on video, usually a man and women in missionary position. Now I think what is considered "vanilla" is getting more hardcore as viewers get more desensitized to viewing weird things on screen. Having a "kink" is probably considered the norm now.

I get the impression that ordinary people think they "discover" their kink through watching porn. I think this is just escalation for more novalty.
