I've peeked multiple times over the last couple of weeks, and have resisted the urge to masturbate each time, *but* my brain is still getting a hit from even looking at that stuff, and I still feel awful even after looking for a few minutes. However, I'm happy that I've retrained my brain pathways to not masturbate upon seeing these images, and I peek for less and less each time, and I get disgusted more easily as the weeks pass by. Am I making progress?

  2. I suggest you stop peeking because you are still getting that dopamine hit every time you peek and will take longer for your brain to rewire itself.

Yeah definitely don't peek. If you find yourself doing it (really, try not to do it) divert from it immediately. think of the 2 second rule. If you have time to say one mississipi, two mississipi, in the amount of time you just peeked, thats not good. My question is though, after peeking and you said you felt awful, for how long did you feel awful after the peek?

The first was last week. Though it was less peeking and more indulging for a good 30 minutes. Didn't masturbate. Then I looked again and was disgusted within 5 minutes and stopped. Then I looked again a few days later and stopped within 2 minutes. The best way I can describe it is it feels like a burning sick sensation floods my mind and I just feel awful. It usually clears up within a few days but even looking at a picture for a few minutes can have lasting effects. But the fact that I get disgusted more easily and can resist more easily shows that I'm making progress I guess.

  5. It's good that you feel disgusted easier, but you still shouldn't peek if you want to make even more progress. Because there's still a chance that you will relapse the next time you get an urge.

Yeah I've been doing that a little bit too. Mostly just pictures of girls until today I accidentally saw some actual P with penetration. It's very enticing and makes abstaining challenging. So yeah, I think the best is to not peek at all. But I get it, it's hard.

I'd still consider this progress, even if its not the most optimal progress. Anything that is going away from pmo is objectively progress one way or the other. You're still looking at p sure, but you're not mo'ing at least. The peeking may still be giving your mind a dopamine hit because dopamine is largely associated with the process of wanting and seeking. The mo is just the reward that solidifies the pmo habit loop. Try to be mindful of the fact that you're slowly breaking this process and that the only missing piece now is not peeking. Its easier said than done, but it is possible.
