Do Americans cuss a lot?

You'd be surprised by what you'd hear even in the elementary and middle schools.

 

Yeah.. There are people who manage to incorporate it into every sentence.

Haha I think the problem is we just don't understand other culture's slang. "Bloody hell" is not a cussword word in the USA, it is an endearing Britishism. Same with "Blood clot" in Jamaica. So we get the sense that we cuss a in relation to other cultures when really we are missing a lot of foreign cussing!

 

Australia > USA in terms of swearing.

My dad was in the Navy. I don't think it's just the media. He would curse up a storm every moment of every day. It's just glued to my personality, but I'm educated enough to have more sophisticated verbiage to replace it when I want to sound sophisticated.
