Has anyone else noticed that caffeine increases your chances of slipping up? It seems each day I drink something caffeinated, I have a much harder time staying strong. Maybe just a weird correlation, and not causation, but I’m curious your thoughts on this!
If it is contributing to making mistakes, maybe it’s because it increases our energy and blood flow which makes us more inclined towards sexual things?

Pro tip: Just drink caffeinated beverages daily and lots of it, so your body is used to handle it :p

On a more serious note it definitely has an effect on your dopamine baseline which in one way or another also affects your behaviour, especially if you're not taking it daily. But in what way that dopamine hit manifests is up to you and your habits ;)

Could also be increased anxiety, to which our brain has learned to respond with "let's fap"

Any kind of stimulant is liable to cause this reaction. I’m a lifelong coffee drinker so caffeine doesn’t have that effect.

However, a few years ago I started drinking a pre-workout drink before my workouts. The first few times I was still hopped up after the workout, so those resulted in intense fap-a-thons.

Luckily, the effects have greatly subsided since then.

Yea I stopped drinking caffeine. After a month you won't even notice it. I never crave or think about it and I used to love coffee

No, I'd say not for me. Sugar would be a more likely trigger, as it contributes to a spike in brain dopamine levels, which an addict may then be urged to spike more with PMO. Caffeine does not do this.

  8. You have any tips my dude? I'm trying to do the same.

Okay sure. It was not the main reason why I quit. That was the poor sleep I got. And that just made it easy to quit. I had done it before so knew the withdraws you get. Don't now why but I don't find it hard to quit unlike porn. check out decaff on reddit for help. https://www.reddit.com/r/decaf

Yeah caffeine is especially hard to eliminate when its some kind of morning ritual-Some months ago I was able to gradually eliminate this one, what I think worked for me:
1)it stopped being ritual-working from home so none of my coworkers is telling me nowadays “time for coffee break!”. Lesson here would be try to break ritual or at least adjust it so that you will not be tempted.
2)I switched first to yerba and finally to green tea which has far less caffeine yet ton of other benefits, certainly not making me so much stressed out.
3)cold showers-its hard to imagine coffee which will wake you up as much as cold shower, especially in winter when water can get truly cold-this one is extreme but certainly helped with this one and at some point you should begin to notice that your natural energy level is even higher then when you craved for strong coffee couple times a day.

First of, very coincidental (or destiny-like!) that this post shows up now. I have been a heavy user of strong coffee (caffeine) for the past 15 years and I just made it 7 days without coffee. Here's my experience:

*Anxiety is less, i'd say about 30 percent less. This is a huge one for me! I had no idea that coffee intake was so related to my anxiety. But I heard that the coffee you buy in the stores is spiked up with 'extra' caffeine on top of the natural caffeine that it contains. It explains that if I drink a strong cup of coffee it can actually make me VERY stressed.
*Easier to handle impulses to PMO, as the impulses get weaker
*Increase in appetite and for REAL food (coffee can actually make you feel you need less nutritious food, because it affects receptors in the brain making you feel somehow "satisfied")
*Huge increase in energy levels, especially energy to EXERCISE. I have exercised every day for the last 14 days now.
*Physical benefits: Better and shinier skin, my teeth feels stronger.

The backdrop? Well, The first two days were hell. I had headaches and felt generally bad. So be warned, this is an addictive drug and it's difficult to quit. But compared to quitting PMO, it's a walk in the park.

Yeah I’ve heard stories that quitting cold turkey can have symptoms similar to those.

To be honest I haven’t considered myself addicted to coffee especially that around me were people drinking 8+ cups compared to my 3-5 per day-I was just trying ton of various things to limit that overwhelming stressed out and anxiety feelings, huge relieve is certainly thanks to moving away from coffee but for that I would also recommend using lunch break to go for a walk (recommending park or some nature), yet again cold showers and morning exercise - I am aware that each 10mins in the morning are very precious but it’s certainly something your body will thank you. :emoji_cartwheel:

Drinking just two cups of coffee a day could dramatically improve your sex life------a university study has concluded this. So drink less coffee or caffeinated beverage.

Tbh I would not trade better sex life for being stressed out-especially that today I will reach 18 Day and just had better sex than I had with coffee and also regular PMO.
It certainly depends on ones priorities plus coffee itself is also linked to some health benefits-when used in moderation & without sugar. Devil is in details I guess, for me:
Peace of mind > supposedly better sex

Also it’s tricky to set permanent limit of one-two cups and maintain it-but it’s only my subjective opinion with this one.

Yeah, I resonate so much with this! I thought about going back to 1-2 cups each day, but I'm afraid I'll slip, loose control and drink much more (I used to drink between 8-10 cups each day!)

I stopped drinking coffee overall. I remember, for 3 consecutive days, I would bring coffee in a small thermos with me at school and whenever I had the opportunity, I would drink from it. What I noticed is that during these 3 days, my lips would get dryer, my head would feel heavy and overall I had low energy levels. So yep, stopped drinking coffee since then lol

Hahaha! Well that too! So I did not weigh much. Caffeine is driving water out of the body... My skin was very dry on coffee, in accordance with what Mark Emmanuel wrote above. I haven't thought about the fact that the lips got dryer but I experienced that as well! I resonate with the heavy feeling in the head also

Åja, du er fra Danmark! Hyggelig å se en Skandinaver her inne. Det er ikke akkurat mange av oss tror jeg... Tror han berømte "sikreodds" var nordmann, det er en typisk norsk sjargong eller ordtak.

Jeg er forresten 50 % dansk. Jeg har en dansk mor :D
