    Hey there guys,

The main issue (last issue I should say) is trying to quit smoking. I have been hopelessly trying to quit but it is too difficult. I would say that my addiction started from my final year of University in which I was under a lot of stress (mental health issues like depression and anxiety, 1 bad friend who I've cut off now for a year and a half now) due to the pressure of exams.

Now that I have finished my studies I am ready to look for a job in which I am tirelessly working to improve myself in every aspect. I have managed to make great changes in other areas of my life.

I have been eating very healthy for a while now, I have a fibre based breakfast every morning, then for lunch and dinner I'd have some chicken with loads of vegetables (carrots, green beans, brussels sprouts, brocolli, potatoes) as well as cutting sugar completely from my diet and only drinking water. In addition, I decided to get a personal trainer for gym to improve my technique and to get the ideal physique that I want.

In terms of nofap, I have been cruising along just fine, I do not watch porn and do not masturbate at all, I have reseted my counter due to having sex (one night stand) so I don't have a problem. Wet dreams are something that I had recently twice but it's not really a serious thing.

However, smoking cigarettes is something I'm desperate to quit. I don't know how to just give it up. I use the opportunity for smoking to think about life and reflect on things, I also use it as a coping mechanism to deal with stress which isn't very good. I have also been using nicotine patches which were helpful but they have desensitised me to cigarettes (I have been smoking whilst the patch has still been on). In other words, I have been smoking a lot more now.

I'm really happy that I have been making a lot of lifestyle changes in other areas but smoking is something I need help on. Doing nofap is an extremely easy thing to do for me but quitting smoking seems impossible. I want to save my money and to live longer. Does anyone have any advice?

    Thanks everyone!

  2. My method was to write out my daily smoking routine and then slowly chip away at it one instance at a time.

Example of my Daily Smoking Routine:

    • Wake up, have a smoke with coffee.
    • Drive to work and smoke.
    • Work breaks and lunch, smoke.
    • Drive home and smoke.
    • Meet up with friends, drink, and smoke.
    • Eat dinner and have a smoke.
    • Get ready for bed and have a smoke.

Once this was written out I chose one instance to eliminate and then try to eliminate more. I started first with smoking during work. Then once I had a couple months free of that, I eliminate smoking on the drive home.

By the time I had eliminated half the instances, I just stopped completely.

I had been a smoker for 15 years and I’m now 5 years clean and have zero desire to smoke again.

Quitting smoking took a few years of trying. Quit now app helped at the start. Also not hanging with friends that smoked/ used tobacco bags and advising them to quit as well. Giving up alcohol, I always used nicotine when drunk and hangover and the cycle of it started again. I guess reading a book of the SPAM REMOVED (spam code #001) - REPORT TO MODERATION method could help, I have a pdf of it on my computer, I can link it to this thread if you are interested, I am on my phone now.

I would really appreciate it if you could please send me the link to the pdf file of the book. I am an avid reader myself and would love to quit as soon as possible. Thanks a lot!

It is in cartoon format, but I think the message is the same.
