Any forum sections that you would like to see?

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Administrator Account, Feb 24, 2014.

  1. I've been thinking about adding a couple of forum sections. Any suggestions?

A couple of ideas: Success Stories may be a separate thing or incorporated into "Journals & Reboot Reports". Dating & Relationships.

I thought maybe an 'Immediate Urges' (working title) section might be useful for some people, just somewhere you can post and get a bit of support if you feel like you're about to imminently relapse. I know there's the journals, but you might get a faster response if it was in an independent 'emergency' type thread :)

Remind me why I am quitting porn and masturbation.

My pick would be "Wait, why was I trying to quit PMO?" Each day, I have to search online for "NoFap benefits" to remind myself why I'm doing this. I know from my recovery from alcoholism that I have "built in forgetters," that is, my addiction has control over my thinking and will tell me, for example, that it's OK to fap because I don't feel like fapping. Now that's my addiction talking, hence my user name SkyNet. SkyNet doesn't have a virus, SkyNet is the virus. In other words, I can't trust my thinking when it comes to PMO.

    Press on regardless,

    SkyNet

Hi Alexander, I was just thinking what a first time viewer might want to see, or someone who is just beginning their journey and I think that having a 'Success Stories' section would be an excellent addition to the front page of the Forum.

Mind, body and spirit - positive things to do on your quest!

It could include tips on meditation, exercise, diet and spirituality and anything else to move people into a more positive way of dealing with the transition.

Alexander, thanks for asking. I have been meaning to inquire how to get a thread for us married men. There are a number of us husbands in long term marriages of 20+ years and most, probably all, of us brought our porn and MO habits with us into our marriage and have been effecting our married sex lives as long as we have been married. Thanks

  7. Hi Alexander,

Kinda like the suggestion for a success stories topic, I'd very much like to see a hall of fame or something for those who at least once managed to go 90 days without PMO.
    Thanks.

  8. Alexander: A gay section would be very helpful.

I like all those suggestions, particularly the idea of the 'emergency stop button' type section and the 'mind body, spirit' section.

I'd agree with freedomwarrior - maybe the issues are a bit different in the context of a long lasting marriage.

Along these same lines, I may suggest a forum for those who have just relapsed and now may need somewhere to go for encouragement and a reminder that we are all human and to recognize the successful days and not dwell in the un-successful minutes. Encouragement to get back on the horse and ride on.

I think their should be one about flatlines because its such a cause for concern and I would like us to find ways how to deal with them

I would like to see a section for "Success stories". They get lost so easily in the "General Nofap" section.
Also, a hall of fame would be nice, though its optional, with just the names of the people who made it. It might contain links towards their success stories. Just a way to celebrate the ones who've made it all the way, and provide a motivation for those who are on their way.

These are all great suggestions. I guess mine is one for Christians. I know not everyone on here is a believer, but our faith has us leaning on each other for encouragement and accountability.

On a side note, I am glad to see people from all beliefs on here helping one another
