How to keep busy?

    Hello,

    Im 7 days no porn or fapping. What do you guys or gals do to keep your mind off it? I clean and talk to myself but i want to know more ways.

    get out for a walk. i found running until i'm exhausted enough to be useful, which can be twenty minutes long, short enough, but long enough.

    don't feel guilty that you think about it. but know that you should not. don't chase the thoughts away. find better ones to replace porn. if it's strong enough porn won't be bothering you. stay aware that you want to keep away from it. strange paradox isn't ?

    I think part of keeping busy in terms of keeping your mind off porn is to not try and keep your mind off porn, cause that'll only make the thoughts stronger. Urges are normal if you've been addicted for a while, and they'll fade with time. Find something to learn for free, watch a youtube video, get into any form of exercise, etc but do not rely on these activities to not pmo. Because eventually, everyone has to stop doing stuff and this is usually when people relapse because they never learned how to sit with urges and let them fade out. I feel like this is part of the point of recovering from an addiction, actually reducing temptation to the addiction.

    Thats good, it sounds like you're already doing a lot tbh and just dealing with the inevitable urges that come eventually.

    Find a hobby you enjoy and can sink hours into it. For instance I enjoy miniature painting, I could spend all day doing it. I don’t have the time as I have other responsibilities like work and a family but if I did I would do that most of the day. Gaming is a good way to take your mind off things. Also working out, I work out 3 days a week and it feels so much better on nofap when lifting weights. For the hour I’m at the gym I’m so focused on the session. Just try not to look at the girls in their leggings lol. Many attractive girls at my gym and I used to sneakily get a look at their ass but I don’t look at all now.

    Video games, sketch , DIY . Plan a project build a cd rack or piece of furniture , exercise bike,walk, home ,gym .

    If all else fails and I'm not bothered with TV , music weed sleep

    I'm especially looking forward for my new GPU arriving so I can play fallout 4 . When that comes it's a wrap. Ive spent 100s of hours completely unbridled with thoughts of porn . So this is a tool infind works the best

    Yeah I struggle with this, but have also made progress lately. For context, I've just finished full time study and am applying for work, so now every day is a 'holiday'...

    I've been trying to pick up more small tasks, with the emphasis on small. Something attainable is more easily achieved, just get moving first and you'll feel better for it.

    Exercise is also a great one. Not only do you build a healthy habit, but it literally uses up that sexual energy that often leads us astray when we're bored.

    Lastly I've decided to start reading novels again. If you find a story you're really into, you can really put time into it, and it's great to take a break from screens and use your imagination.

    On that note, I would caution to using too many screen based activities to fill up time. Things like videogames and social media can be overdone with abundant free time. Consider how they give dopamine hits with little effort, and by comparison can make the real-world tasks feel more boring in comparison.

    I've stopped gaming, social media (apart from this forum), and only watch a small amount of TV. I honestly feel everyday tasks like shopping, cooking, fixing something, talking to someone, all feel more rewarding as a result.
