Why are these things not blocked by filters?

I personally think pornography should be restricted by default on new routers, computers, smartphones etc, and if you choose to turn the restrictions off you can.

Some mobile phone providers, companies already do this.

 

I get people being against internet censorship, and any step towards that. But people freaking out over pornography being blocked by default on new devices, where you can easily allow the porn if you want to is nothing to complain about. But for some reason a lot of people are still very against something like this. I guess they simply do just see it as a small step towards internet censorship.

As I said some companies are already doing this anyway.

 

No filter is perfect. A lot of what is considered arousing material is subjective and thus a filter isn't going to automatically block out everything that could be considered arousing. We live in a world where sex sells andbefore anyone starts complaining that this should change, the more realistic approach is that we accept the notion that if we want to see something arousing, we will see it, no matter how good or how many filters we use.

In my opinion, the more useful question isn't "why can I just search something arousing", it's "why am I trying to look?".

Yeah, developing a comprehensive filter is really really difficult.

You'd need to develop a neural network that had been trained with terabytes of porn and that had root access to your computer and every program on it in order to block everything.

They usually only block a couple hundred of the most popular sites at best.
