As far as I understand it, this will be a virtual reality with people wearing head sets. There is very obvious potential for designers to engineer users having the ability to make love to the partner of their dreams.

however back in the real world all you will be doing is pumping some fake vagina.

This could be like another level of crack cocaine and very dangerous.

VR isn't new, all of that pretty much already exists for quite a while now. It never really was that popular because of all its limitations (only think about the costs of a PC, that can actually run VR properly). Unless VR makes an enormous jump in terms of functionality and affordability, I don't see a future where VR is widely used. Obviously, nobody knows how VR will evolve in the next few years, so it is very much possible for it to become a problem. But in its current form, I doubt it will have much of an impact.

  3. This is my opinion:

    I'm starting with the negatives.
More use and promotion of crypto currency which I'm not an expert in nor I like using. So more people get drawn to the concept of NFTs, which could be put to great use by selling good art at a reasonable price, but most of the marketplace is filled with cringe ape bullshit.

Graphic designer and 3D developers could make use of this technology to create photorealistic animated porn with Deepfake technology which could potentially allow a porn consumer to have sex with any of their dream mates.

Deepfake already is a popular porn culture and I have consumed it myself to see most of my favourite Hollywood actresses naked and drive my imagination. It's kind of silly and creepy too at the same time.

Long hours of VR Usage is not healthy. It puts strain on your eyes.

Metaverse can be addictive if It has some extraordinary graphical world which would provide escapism.

    The positives.
Positives I can think of are very limited. People could actually have some fun and developers could actually mint a lot of money with the metaverse scheme.

But my thinking is simple "If you've got problems handling one life, why would you want to manage another?" and some person might answer this question saying "So that I get some relief from the main one" and that is the example of escapism.

TLDR: Negatives overpower the positives and honestly any sensible consumer would value his universal life more than the metaverse (metaversal?) Life.

Unfortunately, porn addicts are not sensible consumers. We have a history of escapism and hedonism. Not a good combo!

  5. I don't think VR is going to be widely adopted until they fix the VR sickness problem. Owning an Oculus Quest and having experienced it myself, I can tell you that it probably turns off a lot of potential buyers. I will also say that I think people make too much about the difference between VR porn and regular HD porn. Yes in VR porn it looks like you are right there... but its not that much different from regular porn. After a while I got tired and went back to the regular stuff. Also, VR porn struggles with a lack of content because it's so new, so you end up using the same videos and it gets old after a while. All these things would have to be overcome for VR porn to really dominate the market. Not seeing it happen anytime soon, but who knows what will happen.

As for general VR and whether we are going to spend the rest of our lives living in a Metaverse: VR is fun but not fun enough to spend my entire life in it. I played it for a while, now it sits in my closet for weeks without being used. If the tech and immersion got better maybe it would be more addictive, but still I don't think we are in any danger of people exponentially getting sucked into virtual reality any time soon. Those who are prone to gaming addiction may spend inordinate amounts of time in the metaverse, but for the rest of us I think it will just be a place for people to meet and hangout and when we're done to go do something else offline.

Absolutely. Asides from VR porn, consider the trillions of triggers easily available on the web right now via other social media platforms, and now imagine that transposed onto VR. I agree the tech has its issues right now but I think we're just seeing a relatively primitive form of it. Its just a matter of time before the issues are sorted out. God help the next few generations of people.

If social media is already a disease, imagine that.

Strapping on some bullshit helmet isnt going to seduce people the way social media has (or even porn, for that matter). The point is that it is always a click away,, its on the phone in your pocket, its on another tab on your work PC, etc. It's inescapable.

    But i could be wrong.

It is a threat, but let's be real for a moment, most people simply cannot afford a ps 5 let alone a VR headset,

it's a threat to those who can afford it ironically.
