  5. I have been failing a lot too and to get to this streak has been hard. This is what I have done thus far:
    1. Made a commitment on the 9th of February that I will dedicate just 90 days to NoFap. I reasoned if my prospective lifespan is about 25000 days, then 90 days of nofap is infinitesimal in comparison.
    2. Brainwash, brainwash and brainwash: Brainwashing gets a bad reputation but positive brainwashing is very important to win this battle. We are constantly being brainwashed by advertising, news media, social media and its algorithms. Therefore, I am reading books that help me develop a disdain for porn and chronic masturbation. I am currently reading a book called Soft Porn Plays Hardball by Judith Reisman. It is an old book written I think in 1991 but it raises very compelling arguments against watching even so-called Soft porn. Other books are Cupid's Poisoned Arrow by Marnia Robinson, Why You Should Never Masturbate by David Baldwin.
    3. I have developed a relapse prevention plan. You can find my plan in the link if you are interested: https://forum.nofap.com/index.php?threads/reinvention.306956/page-6#post-3173658
    4. I read daily and apply knowledge from the recovery workshop on Recovery Nation (https://www.recoverynation.com/recovery/recovery_workshop_contents.php). I am currently on Lesson 35

  8. Day 6. Sometimes I feel like a hypocrite, talking tough against porn but then noticing graphic daydreams bubble up in my thoughts. It's frustrating. But all I can do is do my best as another imperfect soul on this earth. Let's all have another day free today.

  10. I've had a few good streaks so I'll butt in and give you my quick suggestions.

    1) Decide that you are going to make your goal, period. No "Well I'll give it my best shot and see how it goes" kind of thinking. Adopt a mindset you will do this and find a way to overcome whatever obstacles come your way.

    2) Have a plan for what to do when the inevitable urges show up. Anything that changes your focus helps, such as taking a walk, doing a meditation, reading a book, doing a crossword, meeting a friend for coffee, whatever.

    3) Realize that quitting PMO is not only about giving up something, but about gaining new things. It is not enough just to block porn from our life, we must replace it with positive pursuits. This can be anything that's important to you, such as widening your social circle, working on a political cause, volunteering somewhere, learning a new language, improving your career, getting serious about exercising and getting in shape, becoming a good cook, expressing yourself creativetly through music or art of some kind, following a spiritual path, etc.

    Day 72

Good on you for asking for advice. I'm not perfect either. I've also had two slip-ups in this streak but not far enough to reset.

    1. No matter how far-gone you feel your life is, there is always hope. I don't say that naively. It's true.

    2. I remind myself often (also when I'm not having urges) that my old habits aren't going to bring fulfillment.

    3. I also remind myself that they are old habits - I am in the process of leaving them in the past. If I fall, I willingly feel the guilt for a short while, coz it helps somehow...but if I mope/sulk about it for a day or more, that's triggering. Have to move on. Focus on the good decisions I can make in the next minutes and hours, rather than what's in the past.

    3. Volunteering in some of my free time. Keeps me busy, and helps me forget myself for a while. Also generosity is fulfilling. (I need to be careful not to make it my goal to 'get happiness' from the act of giving...that is still kind of self-focused...better to give for the sake of the receiver, and accept any happiness I get as a bonus, but not the point of it. Helps train my brain away from the 'get, get, get' mindset that goes with pmo).

    4. Being grateful for little things everyday. Helps me avoid depressive thoughts which are triggering.

    5. Prayer. Trust in God's infinite mercy. Scripture. Kicking this habit because I see it as treating God's precious people like mere objects. I acknowledge not everyone here is religious but yeah that's a big thing for me.

All the best @Dr. Life rebuilder and everyone here!

Actually i am trying from past 7 years. Since 2016. Had a few good streaks under the belt close to 90. Close to 30.. close to 10. But if i relapsed i relapsed so badly i relapse every day. But whenever i did the streaks i tried to have the determination of not relapsing and my mind focusing on improving myself in every aspect of my life.
    1. Add only one new habit. Never add more than 1 habit. Because it can cause pressure which can turn you towards relapsing.
    2. Always have a busy day. Get busy dealing with things in your life.
    3. Do some walk in the open air before going into your room. Open air helps you in setting the mood right.
    4. There will be particular times, triggers which will be the reason to relapse. Those times stay on terrace/open air.
    5. Recognise nofap as part of your life. But don't get obsessive with waiting/getting benifits.
