    What would be the legal consequences if I accidentally saw or downloaded something illegal onto my computer? I want to know the answer to this question because I have ocd and one of my fears is accidentally seeing or downloading something onto my computer and getting into trouble with the police.

    One can serve jail time for downloading/storing such shit - and also sex offender registry. "It was an accident" is hard to defend if one keeps it stored or there's evidence of multiple instances - saved or recovered. Any offence with this or otherwise can lead to a warrant to confiscate/examine all computer equipment and devices.

    I've never downloaded anything like this but my ocd causes me to worry that I might have done so by accident.
