Why is porn everywhere?

Discussion in 'Off-topic Discussion' started by Deleted Account, May 21, 2022.

  1. Hello Guys,

It is insane. Every movie I watch has some weird sexual encounters.

If you go across the city, even little girls now wear shiny wet look leggings.

I wonder how did we end up here?

  2. Every country in the world is becoming a New Babylon as described in the Bible. In Babylon everything is acceptable, including pedophilia, bestiality, sodomy, and incest. It's all part of the Devil's agenda for the world. If he can corrupt every human being on this Earth and make it seem like we are nothing less than animals then that's his way at getting back at God, as we are made in God's image. Just look at what porn tries to popularise and you can see the direction society is heading.

in the rise of capitalism and before that the common people, us, belong to the system as body power to produce. Thats why the masturbation was proscript, the system need us to be physicaly strong. In these times we are products, we need to consume, and consume. If we waste all our sexual energy we became empty vassels that crave for the fullfillment that the industry provide us: porn, junkfood, social media, buying unnecesary stuff, drugs, alcohol, sex. The true rebel nowadays own thy body and control thy impulses, you dont give you energy to the capitalism. I know that sound like commie gibbering, im not aggainst capitalism, i think its a system that have pros and cons, but i belive we need to resist to the alienation of that savage capitalism that consumes us. That selfdestructive behavior also make us compulsive consumers of the health system

  7. Thanks! You have opened my eyes a bit... It is time to opt-out from this system. Not because capitalism as a whole is bad but because parts of the system simply suck!

If you can capitalize on everything, you will...

This is undesirable trait for society...

I am starting to get religion. Religion can address issues that capitalism cannot.

Dignity is missing, respect is missing, honor is missing...

I don't understand why why do burden our sons and daughters with the burden on sin.

I know that people are better and worth more than society makes them feel...

Original question: Why is porn everywhere?
    Further description:
    Tl;dr- Because people want it.

Porn is a genre of fiction. The best rationale for fiction I have ever seen comes from the textbook Writing Fiction by Janet Burroway; "Literature offers us feelings for which we do not have to pay." Burroway elaborates, "It allows us to love, condemn, condone, hope, dread, and hate without any of the risks those feelings ordinarily involve, for even good feelings- intimacy, power, speed, drunkenness, passion- have powerful consequences." With that in perspective, consider this; sex is highly desirable, and extremely expensive. This is why porn, not the full embodiment of sex but a fictional portrayal of a kind of sex, and sexual display which hints at sex but does not commit to full delivery, is everywhere; it offers us happy feelings without having to pay for them.

We want sex because we have a biological imperative. It feels good. It's more than that, though, and has been for a long, long time. Sex is also about hierarchy, prestige, success, power. The best animals, the ones with the best adaptations, get to reproduce and the worst ones do not. The result is attaching sex with status, especially for males, whose responsibilities in a strictly biological sense begin and end with fertilizing an egg. This is the beginning of value on sex for all of us, but especially men. Since men value sex, women, who also have that biological imperative, also value sex and try to make themselves more appealing in a sexual sense.

If sex were merely desirable, there wouldn't be a problem. We'd just do it when we felt like it and not when we didn't and it everything would be fine, but sex comes at a steep price and females pay a disproportionate one. Sex can be fun, but it leads to reproduction, and reproduction is dangerous. First in the act itself, if they aren't ready the fertilization process can be painful and physically traumatic. Female anatomy is prone to infections, which can be exacerbated even by "enthusiastically consensual" sex. If they are fertilized, they spend a significant period of time being physically vulnerable. Their energy is depleted as they grow a new human inside of them. They grow increasingly uncomfortable and ungainly. In a historical sense it was harder for them to gather resources even as they became easier prey, and it's possible we carry that inherent unease in our DNA. Childbirth itself is excruciatingly painful, and extremely dangerous. Women dying in childbirth, until relatively recently, was depressingly common. But the costs don't end there. Now a woman has a tiny human they are biologically obsessed with keeping alive, and that little thing is not even close to developed enough. Though nine months seems like a long time, humans actually give birth early in the gestation process and unfortunately, growing that child is a lot harder outside the womb than in. They used to be hooked up to an automatic feeding system, now they have to be fed at regular intervals. They used to be carried inside, now they have to be picked up and put down. They used to be insulated from physical trauma, and from bacteria and viruses, now they are exposed to the world. Human babies suck up so many resources, it is virtually impossible for a mother to meet even its most basic needs on her own and this continues today. That baby will continue to require close care until maturity which, depending on who you ask, is anywhere from roughly twelve to twenty-five years. I think it's important here to note, most sex doesn't last twelve minutes. One of the best indicators of poverty today is being a single mother, or being raised by a single mother. Reproduction, consequently sex, is already incredibly expensive and that's just the physical side of it. Because the costs of reproduction over the long term is so high, but sex is attractive and pleasurable and both men and women are prone to be impulsive about it, we build systems of morality and cultural taboos around it. We attach huge stigma, legal consequences, we threaten superstitious consequences, to those who break the rules around sex.
But we still want sex. Thanks to biology the demand for sex remains high, but we use cultural moratoriums to restrict the supply for sex which, in terms of basic economics, raises its value even higher.

    Enter porn.

The things you describe as porn wouldn't be classified by most people as porn, but if we're honest they are examples of sexual fantasy. Fiction. Remember what fiction does? "Offers us feelings for which we do not have to pay." People in real life do not have a lot of sex, because it's expensive. Men do not kiss women out of the blue. We don't tell them we are attracted to them out of the blue, because if the feeling was not mutual or disproportionate in some way, consequences can range from public shame to prison time. It's also risky for women to express attraction to men without being assured the feeling is mutual, so in real life men and women both awkwardly negotiate the relationship until we are both assured there is mutual attraction and how much. It's a delicate process, full of emotional hazards. Wouldn't it be great if men could just automatically know exactly how much a woman was attracted to them, so they could respond appropriately? In fiction they can! So this is what we get. Men on screen do things that frankly would be considered assault, but the women are into it because they are written that way and both genders find the scene gratifying. Seeing that scenario play out makes us feel happy, so we reward it with attention and money.
Provocative dress is different. Women advertise their sexuality because they are rewarded for it. They are hinting they are ready for sex, men respond to it, but it's not real. It's a tease. A fantasy. Women who put on a sexual display are NOT looking for sex. Think those young girls are looking for sex? No way. Those are girls wanting to be recognized as mature without understand what maturity means. Think a genuinely sexually mature woman is actually looking for sex? Again, no way. She is looking for affirmation that she is sexually desirable, and even that only from potential mates she also finds sexually desirable. She could be dressing up only for the benefit of one male she's currently crushing on. She doesn't do it for you, she does it for herself. It still serves as a fantasy for you, but that's almost an unintended consequence. You are collateral damage for her self esteem.

    That's why there's porn everywhere.

  11. We are still just animals, sex is one of the old world things that keeps following us because if we want to continue we have sex, and sex is fun, our problem is we over do it, too much of a good thing is bad for everyone.

Well mountaingoat our ancestors were horny fuckers . My guess we were once monkeys flipping over female monkeys in coconut trees. and doing the monkey dance in a moment of primitive glory probably did it right at the diner table while others were chowing down on ants and berries .Somewhere along the line those fluffy hairy dudes became human and we filmed that shit.

Wind back to empororers and kings . Think of the Romans . Those dirty dogs fucked there own mothers cousins and had wild orgies with men and women. . Think I'd have deserted for the barbarians

fast forward to the sexual revolution in the 70s and lots and lots of porn .

My guess is humans gone human sometimes humans go loco. But sometimes we change the game. ideals change what's ok today wrong tomorrow and wrong today ok tomorrow. .

Today we have technology and progressive society .

That said" porn is everywhere." This doesn't really make sense you class a girl wearing something attractive porn . Just a hot girl wearing something attractive people wear something that makes them feel good. And women have great bodies. This has nothing to do with porn ,although sexy has obviously changed since the 50s as in culture and style.

Again everyone is only human we are influenced by trends each to there own .

The issue is your perception . Seeing everything as porn . Porn is people banging Infront of a camera . Your talking about people wearing attractive clothing. At the end of the day humans gone bang . We just have more influence .

There has always been people in every generation have said about oversexualisation of this that .
society begun to rebel at some point with music sex drugs and rock and roll .. from what I gather society used to be much more repressed and still is to a degree . Not everyone fucks BDSM bukakee gangbangs

Everything is moving and evolving with our level of technology. . And this is just an aspect of human life.

I think most people today we're sex used to sell I think people today are more aware of the undertone . Again people will keep watching of someone is attractive . This will always sell . It's there business model .

Obviously mine is the piss take answer

I guess the word porn means something different for everyone.

Porn to me is arousing content on a platform where you can search more of it and get more of it. I'm not all that worried about seeing the odd arousing image, video, as long as I can't start searching for more of it, for more similar images, videos etc.

So I use filters on my computer, and if I stumbled across something on the internet and I found it arousing, but it ended there, it wouldn't really worry me. Where as if I stumbled across some sort of platform where I could keep searching more and more arousing content, and get more and more arousing content, this would really worry me.

Sex scenes in movies, women dressing half naked etc. These things don't worry or bother me at all. But I don't want some sort of high novelty platform where I can keep searching and looking at images, videos of these half naked women, a high novelty platform of images, videos of people having sex etc, I don't want things like that.

See if I see a sex scene in a movie, I'm not talking about a pornographic movie here. But see if I see a sex scene in a movie, I don't even feel like it is a turn on tbh with you.

Porn is not everywhere. If we all stopped browsing the internet, watching TV/movies, reading books, playing video games and the like I'm sure porn would be reasonably easy to avoid. We will still come across porn but it would be somewhat easier to keep physically contained. One can also argue that we are just seeing out in the open today what was always behind closed doors. In the long term it may actually be a blessing since now people are facing and processing what was once kept hidden. Like no other period of time or fantasies are being exposed, observed and dissected. For better or for worse.

  15. If we avoid the human form we will become crazy weirdos and sexually starved like one country I can think of, stop placing sex on a pedestal it's over rated and not worth your time unless your aiming to have a family. You'll feel better. If you been stabbed you're not going to ban all sharp or 90 degree angles from your life you just learn to live with it and not let it effect you.

True, that or you like sex and have sex with a lot of women. If you never have sex you will put it on a pedestal but still do without.sex is only overrated if you aren't particularly good at it or you have low sex drive

  17. I have high sex drive and I am average at getting it. low mid body count, being a loner does that. I see it as vapid, there is no substance unless it is family building, otherwise we end up screwing ourselves by being promiscuous.
