I've failed miserably before with this type of reading challenges, mostly because of the stress of knowing that I have to read, as opposed to reading by pleasure. That I end up not reading at all for months. But I decided to take a different approach, rather than finishing a book a week, I want to learn from a book each week, and enjoy from the book. I hope it works this time, because I've been reading everyday anyway, for the past weeks.

If you want to join you're free to do it of course, just post what book you finished and if you liked it or not.

This is great, rather than finishing books in numbers, you are focusing on the learnings from the books. I am gonna do the same.

Great idea, conqueror, I'm in. I've got lots of books I want to read but rarely get down to it. I think I'll start adding books to my workout planner / journal, one a week.

Last week I read Dopamine Nation by Anna Lembke, very helpful with understanding addiction, and part of the reason why I'm back here, for accountability and journaling.

Next is The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fk. I'm not sure what it is about yet or if it will help with porn addiction, but it has been recommended often.

Nice, I remember listening the audiobook, I chose that as my free book with my audible suscription. Although I can't really remember it xD, I just remember it was a good listen.
I downloaded that book long ago but never read it, I should read it soon

Haha, alright, I've also got the audiobook. Hopefully I'll remember what it's about. ;)

    What will you be reading?

Thanks, I got it already, and I'll read it next week.

Ah, don't feel like you have to admit anything! I couldn't even make it through the first chapter when I tried reading that book!

Guys, I finished The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fk. The part on caring about your values was very helpful with the addiction. Valuing not pleasure but self-development.

Also read Your Brain on Porn. I did not relate to the downsides people experience with porn, like ED, and the book was largely about that. But some withdrawal symptoms were very relatable, and I'm happy I read it.

I am on my 23rd book of the year. Goal was 50 for the year, essentially 1 a week.

Reading Harry Potter 7: Deathly Hallows. A bit late to the game but it's a really great series! Joined the Harry Potter Challenge Forum.

Damn you read 2, that's awesome. I didn't know YBOP revolved largely around ED, I was hoping it was more about the brain effects, that's a bit disappointing
Great goal and massive books also. I have never watched or read anything related to HP, maybe I will when I reach your age.

I failed to read my intended book -Wuthering Heights-, but I did read from a couple other books and managed to finish 1: Loving what is. It's basically a self help book about realizing that all of our suffering is in our head and the stories we come up with, and stress about, are most of the times if not always, lies. I really liked it but more than that I like that it changed my perception and have been doing the exercises and self-analysis since I started reading it, actually even before. This week I will give Wuthering Heights another shot, but if not I will still read my other book

It does talk about the brain effects too, but in my personal opinion it has a bit too much emphasis on ED and social anxiety, both of which I haven't faced. A large part of it is quotes from forums like these of people talking about their problems and solutions. Still very happy I read it, though.

Perhaps The Brain That Changes Itself, which YBOP quotes a few times, explains the brain stuff in more detail. Haven't read that one.

Just finished reading Stress Less Accomplish More by Emily fletcher. A book about meditation, two types of meditation: mindfulness and mantra meditation, to release stress from the past and the present, making you much more efficient at everything, among a myriad of other benefits, physical, mental and emotional. Good information and started the actual practice yesterday, it just takes 17 mins twice a day but I increased it to 21mins. We'll see what actual benefits I encounter a few weeks and months from now.

And I'm currently reading a book about shadow integration, and will start right now also a book about the psoas muscle.

By the way, Wuthering Heights has been left abandoned, once again.
