The term "sex positive" was invented by those who think boundaries are limits to their freedom, so to them casting off boundaries is freedom and therefore "positive." This, of course, is logically inconsistent since boundaries are not limits to freedom. The laws of mathematics are do not hinder someone from practicing mathematics freely, they hinder someone from practicing mathmatics incorrectly. What these individuals therefore really want isn't sexual freedom but licentiousness. But even if they want to claim the title "sex positive" we know that this doesn't mean they are love positive. ;)

I don't think the pros and cons of marrying young, or of teaching kids what's the best age to marry, or of teaching kids to wait to have sex until they are married are anything to do with this thread? I thought @TakingTheSteps was worried (rightly so) that people were encouraging girls and young women to see their sexual objectification as empowering

Actually, the topic of abstinence would have some relevance to the conversation since abstinence would force men and women to connect with each other on a deep and personal level, which is the very opposite of objectification.

  4. Good points… but this still doesn’t solve the situation of what a person should do with their sexual desires before marriage.

Not everyone is able to attain to the level of getting 500+ days on NoFap. So therefore, a person who is not yet married would either be in a situation where they become a true NoFap champion and never PMO or MO… or, the person could just MO every once in a while without looking at pornography

however, just regular MO is still harmful, at least that is an opinion on here

what do you think a person should do with their sexuality before marriage? Because the sex drive is there, just naturally, it comes up without us even wanting it to come up. It just arises…

  5. Good points, I was just stating my opinion that all of this sexual craziness, at least partly is a result of sexuality existing in people just naturally, and then since there is such a long gap between the onset of sexual desire and marriage… that during this “in between” time, all of this sexual promiscuity arises… since sexuality is in existence, but without an outlet within marriage

So yea it is somewhat related to the original statement by OP, at least in my opinion

I think the sting of that passage comes from us imagining our daily lives with sex removed. And for those of us who haven't had sex and/or aren't married, it comes from imagining our daily lives without the hope of one day having sex. That sounds like no fun at all.

However, life in the age to come won't be like our current daily lives. I think that the delights of that age will be so much greater than sex that we won't miss it or lament that we've never experienced it.

This is assuming there is no sex in the age to come which the Bible doesn't actually say explicitly.

  7. yep, definitely true about the stinging part. For me it’d be never being able to truly get sexual satisfaction, like extended periods of time having sex with a woman I truly like.

but yea, the Bible doesn’t explicitly say there is no sex in the world to come, this is true. Maybe there is even better ways of having sex in the world to come than this life, assuming I am allowed to enter this realm of existence after death

If the plan is for humans to transcend the ability to have sex in our resurrected bodies, I have no doubt we will also transcend the desire for sex. It won't be like doing the NoFap challenge for all eternity. ;)

The Bible infers that there will be no sex in the world to come when Christ states in Matthew 22:30 that the resurrected will neither marry nor be given in marriage. To Christians, the act of sexual intercourse is called the marital act, so no marriage = no sex.

I listen a lot to Esther Perel, who is an expert in relationships and sexual desire, and one thing she keeps bringing up that I really have been thinking about is the relational nature of people.

So the "idea" that goes around is that someone should "work on themselves" in order to suddenly show up in a marriage out of nowhere and make everything work from a sexual standpoint of view with another person whom they have no intimate idea about. This is a flawed and outdated belief system. We must nurture our relational side and learn how to experience sexual fulfillment too! We can't just wave at each other from afar and then expect to have a lasting and sexually fulfilled marriage once we finally tie the knot! Just as we can not look at a picture of a piano and then expect to play für Elise fluently.

There is nothing wrong to have relationships that includes safe sex. I'm from the Nordics where we marry around the age of thirty. Before that we have monogamous relationships that includes sex. We learn about who we are as people and how to make intimacy work.

Today's warped idea that monogamous non-marital sex is evil, and that everyone should stay rampantly masturbating virgins without human connection, is nothing less than cruel, filthy and destructive.

I already gave my opinion on that part as well, it's not my burden to bear if all my claims went over your head.

But short thing is having one gender strictly benefitting from a specific, strong type of influence over society, while denying the opportunity for the other one to prove themselves or minimizing their ability to do so based on superficial arguments, is simply forging a bias in the favour of the ones enjoying the influence and privileges.

Most expectations we have of each sex is only the result of superficial observation and never questioning the validity of each of our roles.

Just like there's patriarchal societies there is also matriarchal ones, where it's mostly women who are involved in leadership and decision making and possess full rights over heritage while men aren't allowed heritage, and it's the men of the family who raise children.

For one to make a conclusion on how far each sex can succeed or accommodate a specific task they have to unleash their critical thinking and search for other explanations than ''it's just how it is'', in order to decipher all the involved variables leading to a specific result.

Patriarchal structure was established on the principle of patrilineality: where children are given their fathers' names. In order to insure no accidental incest would happen and that social structure will remain intact and organised. By domino effect, this decision led to a heavy control of female sexuality in order to meet the requirements above. Hence the shaming of female promiscuity, to an unparalleled level with its male counterpart, was born. Later the established fear of being a promiscuous female will only be solidified with the full financial dependency , and the exclusion from political spheres

Since the ones who gives their names to their kids, need to make sure their efforts wouldn't be rigged by the opposite sex's recklessness and having full control of the other gender's options and foresight heavily contributes to how dependant they'll be and minimizes the possibility of them seeking other partners.

This is how to explain the absolute control over women's freedom and right of ownership as well as decision making.

As for religion, all religions in the world are built on the principle of 'we are right, all the others are wrong'. And pretty much each one of them embodies a set of beliefs that can be subject of scepticism from outsiders to the faith. Any religion is seen as absolute truth by those who choose to believe in it.

And no one can arrive at any decisive conclusion by debating which religion is right, anyone will relentlessly defend their faith and only conflict can emerge from this kind of debates.

  13. Well, when I saw the people gleefully escaping East Germany in '89 I began to think that Communism is an appealing idea that doesn't work. Or hasn't worked yet.
So no, I'm not a Marxist, but a bit of a British socialist who also rather likes hard work and winning. And capitalism!

But I can't agree with the term 'progressive' to mean the left and liberal, as it's a way of telling people that one is correct and the other not.
America at least has the balls to have an argument now, as I do fear the Brits just want to roll over and be 'nice' in their fear of offending anyone. Another word: bollocks.

This was a very long-winded way of showing me you really just have a bone to pick with the abuse of patriarchy.

  17. Maybe we're assuming that there 'needs' to be a sexual outlet. I have heard it often and believed it, and it is possibly sexist towards men and boys to suggest that that need it. Imagine the accusations if anyone suggested that women 'need' it sometimes.
Surely there's plenty of needs in life that require focus and energy (that could be used for sex or the pursuit of), and maybe when those bases have been met, decent, compatible people can get down to some breeding. I quite like that idea after years of chasing girls and my own hand.

  18. Man, the 'one religion being the fullness of truth'. How about this: Jews, Christians and Muslims get together and focus on that whey agree on (as the three Abrahamic faiths). Probably naive, but it would be better that the mess that has happened for a long time.

Sure bruh. But it's just my style in answering things and I am very fond of it, I love bringing up all the relevant details of any topic. So let's just agree to disagree, and keep it that way.

This is another convoluted debate, so let's not derail OP's thread any further.

  20. Well hey it's our Scandinavian friends once again speaking English better than most. I think you were a bit strong on the last three words, though.
I do currently hold the opinion that Scandinavia has the best level overall in the world. Maybe Singapore or suchlike is doing better?
So was all this created by human men, or a continuance of that which happens in some other animal societies? I'm not convinced that we are from gorillas, then again the bonobos freak me out.
