This site's forum is suppose to be a helping tool, but its now turning to something else.. Too many nonsense and irrelevant post. The site is now even turning me on. Please mind the way you post giving in or edging or missing your target, and mentioning words like "dick" and those kind of shit, most times its discouraging. Please moderators try and do something about this.

  2. Can you provide some examples of triggering posts? Also, there is a REPORT icon on the bottom-left of every post. If you see something, say something. The moderators can't be everywhere at once and we really rely on reports to keep the forum clean.

I kinda agree about some posts being somewhat triggery... Particularly the ones where people talk about their sex life with their girlfriends or whatever. In my opinion these aren't offtopic however because they uusually involve ED or something. But it would be nice to control the amount of detail if possible.

But it is more important than anything that you control yourself. Don't blame the trigger exclusively for relapsing. Blame also yourself for falling into temptation. But this is just my opiniob

I would have thought the context of the use needs to be considered. If it's someone's journal, it's their business. If it's provocative and blatant, perhaps intentionally moderating needs to take place.
That being said, reading the word "Dick" does not turn me on. :)

Yes journals are the persons private business and can write what they want imo. My journal is pretty to the bone and thats obvious from the first page, but its hardly an erotic novel. People who visit can see im honest with them and can easily choose noy to visit if they think im not helping their particular battle.
that being said I do think that keeping detail and possible triggers to a minimum in the other forum posts is common courtesy. Good luck with your battle mate.

  6. Maybe this site isn't for you blessEDdy. But do not infer from that comment that you are not welcome here. It is just that you seem to have an unusually hypersensitive trigger if using the word "dick" is turning you on and thereby discouraging you. Perhaps words such as: "masturbate", "porn" and "orgasm" may also turn you on and make it harder to fight your sexual urges (I hope "sexual" isn't another triggering word for you). Yet, it is impossible to have a site that SPECIFICALLY deals with these things if they are not to be mentioned. Do you understand why I said, "Maybe this site isn't for you blessEDdy"?

From my point of view, none of the words above or, indeed, anything I have read on this site has turned me on or discouraged me. It is worth remembering, that everything we do is a matter of choice. If you start reading someone's journal and they express themselves in ways you find arousing and/or discouraging, the choose another post to read. It is not my intention to be non-supportive or unduly harsh, but many people find that this is a hitherto unavailable opportunity to get their SPECIFIC issue(s) off their chest and I feel that this site is moderated in such a way to incorporate that need. I wish you all the best - vertigo :)

  7. That is a helpful point regarding the report icon. The thing is that I never realised that it was there and what it signified. If there are others like me, perhaps adding the word report there would be useful (as it is with reply - again, I wouldn't know what that curly arrow meant otherwise). Finally, thanks for everything and I hope you have a successful month - vertigo :)

I think almost all of you misunderstood me, I didn't say words like dick or porn or masturbation turns me on!! ( gosh!!!!!!, so annoying seeing your replies).. I meant people writing sex stories or how they almost had sex or PMO can be discouraging.. And how some stories are nonsense and irrelevant (like a story I read with the guy using the word dick unnecessarily). Gosh this is simple english, read the context again before your bullshit talks. You guys can be so annoying and I didn't say it was on journals. Moderator alexander I've heard you, would report any post I think its not helpful nofap.org

Hey blessEDdy ... cool it brah ! :) Its all good. We'll try to tone down our language a little.

Why don't you go out tonight and meet some nice girls with your friends ? Try sayin' hey, I like your eyes, wanna dance ? Who knows, she might become your wife and help you forget this FAP shit stuff for life.

    Stay spartan.

  11. "Your bullshit talks". That is a rude response to our respectful replies to your opening post. If we misunderstood you, it seems likely that you did not explain yourself clearly. As Spartan says - cool it!

  12. How many of you would be interested in having a "NSFW" feature for the text, kinda like the one in reddit? I often find that what I write could be triggering, especially since I'm a girl talking about my sex life, but honestly is primordial for me. The more bare I am, with my feelings and the way I talk of them, the more I understand myself, but I totally understand I can make some people uncomfortable. I'll try to talk about this more with the other admins.

Everyone - let's treat other people on this site with respect. We're all in this together. And I don't think that the main point of his post was about the misuse or sexual words, it was more about the absence of quality that is becoming more and more prevalent on this site.

I was thinking it might be nice to have some kind of disclaimer/warning in the thread title BUT maybe this is not a good idea as it might be too much of a temptation for those who should not read such threads in order not to get triggered.

I do think that journals should be free rein except if one is intentionally being overly graphic and am happy to hear the reminder of the button on the bottom left which I also hadn't noticed.

In some of my journal posts I have started with a disclaimer saying there might be some triggering language or ideas ahead.

A very large portion of Fapstronauts come here to improve their sex life and share their efforts. Yes, some of them might be a little graphic, but it comes with the territory. Ideally, individuals will be able gauge if a post might be potentially triggering and go elsewhere or to another thread before its too late. The poster shouldn't be punished or the post moderated for that.

Moderators should only step in if it seems like the poster is trying to trigger us. There are trolls out there that will do this, and if you report them with that little button in the bottom left of the post, the moderators will deal with it.

As for "discouraging" posts, those are important. Some Fapstronauts feel a need to hold themselves accountable to this community when they fall. This concept has kept me from relapsing several times. And when people do post about a fall, they get encouragement to restart their streak almost immediately. That aspect of this forum is incredibly encouraging.

For some of us, this forum just may not be the right thing. For me it is, absolutely. But when I started my first challenge without knowing about this forum, I found it also very helpful that after a time I stopped thinking about PMO completely. Well these are just two ways to approach, its clear that you cant stop thinking about PMO when you read about it everyday. On the other hand you wont get any support when not talking and thinking about it openly. So, if youre triggered easily, leave this forum and try to forget about PMO completely. If you need support, stay and dont blame the others.

Simple answer to this is 'Warning: May contain triggers' if it's felt it is needed on the part of the poster. It's a conscientious action. Say if I recommended the films Shame and Don Jon as part of recovery, that trigger warning needs to be there and I'll do that.
The OP has a point. And no offense was meant in my attempt at sarcasm in my reply post earlier.
