I use an app called detoxify on my phone it works really well, it allows me to set a randomized pin and it also has a "panic button" feature where I can freeze out my phone if I need to weather the storm on some strong urges. I believe they have software for Windows as well

I use BlockSite for android. Really saved me a bunch of time.
But remember to never "test" your block app, try to truly internalize the idea that you just CAN'T do that because of the blocker. otherwise your brain would just look at the blocker as a game, and the reward is porn. The only way for a blocker to work is by never testing it

I’m a sex addict in recovery, and have been heavily involved in SAA (Sex Addicts Anonymous https://saa-recovery.org/) for nearly 8 years. I have an attraction to teenage porn and my problem has been teen porn (only porn, I have not had contact with a teen since I was a teen). Today I have one year, 4 months and 8 days away from teen porn images. Many of my friends in SAA swear by Covenant Eyes, and it has a companion app that can allow someone, perhaps a sponsor, a friend or accountability partner, to be notified whenever you go to a sexually explicit site.

I’m not sure if Covenant Eyes and/or Victory allow you to lock a device from porn sites and locks the app with a password in order to access the settings, which you can give to someone else so that you have no access to change the app settings.

Hi thanks for your support. Ive heard of covenant eyes before but I think you have to have a subscription. If I need to pay for a porn blocker I will but that would be my last option. Anyway I too am a member of SAA. Ive been attending meetings since last October. A wonderful program by the way. Also I wish you the best of luck in your sobriety!!

I use BlockerHero on my phone and pay $3 bucks a month so I can't turn it off. It is only as strong as you allow it to be but will work well if you let it.

By that I mean it isn't very smart so you have to help it help you. It's not going to know RandomURL.xyz is Porn like you do... Well... You didn't know it was porn until you found it accidently via an image search... So maybe block image search too... And by you I mean me. I did that.

I’ve managed to block most things from my mobile at service provider level… I know I can go change those settings… but this just add some hurdles for me to get over and makes it slightly harder.

hoping to do something similar on my home wifi network. I tried changing the DNS servers to OpenDNS… but this seems to have done nothing!

im only on day 6 right now and coping well… but wanted to put some easy to use steps in place to reduce risk of me doing dodgy stuff online when the temptation occurs!!

  15. I’ve used Detoxify on my Android and on my Windows PC. I really like if since it allows a randomized pin through the android app if you don’t have someone who can set one up for you; You can also email their support and they will randomize one for you for the PC. The app allows you to blacklist/whitelist sites, ban things with keywords (great for avoiding psubs), set an accountability partner, prevent from installing/using certain apps, and prevents from uninstalling.

They also have a Purity Browser for android which can do a majority of these things while also disabling images in the browser.

Nothing is impossible to circumvent but if you’re not very computer or smartphone savvy, it’s a good option.
