The absolute worst chaser effect of my life

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Progressive Death Mettle, Mar 11, 2014.

  1. I can't even concentrate. The last 6 hours or so have been me trying to stay busy with school work, reading, watching Dragonball Z, whatever. But it feels like the infamous "seven days" for a heroin addict. It's a like a demon is tearing my genitals apart...

I haven't relapsed yet though. Damn close but still hanging in there.

I went through that. A little trick I finally learned was to quit telling myself I can hold out and start telling myself that I loved the withdrawals. I embraced them. I began to look forward to them. If I had to stay up entire nights until the exhaustion forced sleep, I said A OK, bring it. I've said it before and I'll say it here: Get educated, get tools, learn to love withdrawals.

  3. Thanks man! Really useful links. It's hard to imagine it could get any worse than what I'm feeling right now.

Stay strong man, we're all here with you :)

  5. That thread you started saved my streak, William. Just as I was about to Google some random porn actress (at school), this line pushed me through:

"The good thing is, if you are having withdrawals, it means your brain's dopamine levels are on their way back to normal."

And I appreciate the kind words Jakob. I'm from Boston by the way. We should have a drink the next time I'm in London!

Progressive, you're ahead of me, so I'm following your posts to see what I might expect. Hang in there and show me how it's done. Sorry you're feeling bad, but yeah ... you're getting better!

  8. I may have mentioned this already, but check out William's link when you're feeling down or on the brink like I was.

This post reminded me of something I recorded in one of my daily journals:

I think that last sentence might resonate with you Mettle. We all have to deal with it at some point. The more we can endure it, the easier it will get. However, if we give in we'll ultimately have to deal with it again. And, as we all know, things can have a tendency to progressively worsen.

    Keep up the good work!
