Is music bad?

    So while on my nofap journey Im starting to clear the brainfog and I am starting to understand myself better, but I notice sometimes when I listen to too much music, I get the same feeling as when I fap, I start to drift off and become lathargic, is music bad while on nofap, does it mess with your dophamine and levels?

    Maybe you're listening to a wrong kind. Try some Christian chants.

    Music is a deep and special part of my life. Without it I would have snapped by now.

    Theres a special connection we have with music, its a form of communication that can touch the soul. Find some sound that does that and you will be uplifted.

    As you say, I think this could be related to our old friend dopamine. Music is pleasant but has been a rarity in the human experience until recently, with the invention of records, then cds, then mp3 and all that stuff. Now you can be 24 hours listening to music nonstop. That's not natural, that's taking much more stimulus than is available at nature. Music has his benefits for sure, but as it happens with sex, or information, overdoing can turn something good in essence to something bad and harmful. So my totally nonscientific advice would be to reduce the amount of musical stimulus, and see how it works.

    I think certain genres of music such as hip hop (particularly the more main stream "hip pop" vibe) are, in essence, verbalised porn in terms of the nature of the lyrics and the x-rated videos that accompany them. Nearly all rap seems to surround sex (and sometimes money) so I've tried to stay clear of it - I feel it subconsciously leads to urges.

    Not really, my answer was kind of a joke. But I guess you can easily search up some Christian chants. Or just go with Mozart.
