    Hello,
I have used porn for over 10 years. I have had times when I have really wanted to give it up and feel I would be a lot happier and freer in my life without it. But I have felt very alone and shameful about this challenge, and each time giving it up I have gone back to using internet porn. I have just found the Nofap website and I am hoping to find support in the forums and groups to help me, and a place to share my experience of porn addiction.
    Thanks.

    Hey, j wel.
I am pretty new to this site as well. You should also check out Reddit com/r/NoFap.
I have been addicted to PMO for about 7 years, and have always been trying to stop.
Right now i am on day 37 which is my longest streak of all time. In 7 years of trying to stop.. I have made it no longer then 37 days( so far) and in this streak I have learned one thing above all else... We cant do this on our own... This is really really hard, I'm not going to sugar coat it for you. But together we can fight this and beat it.. by not beating it (If you know what im saying).
So my two main tips to fapstaining are..
    1. Stay Connected - Join a group, talk to other people about their struggles, get an accountability partner
    2. Stay Busy - most of the time boredom will lead to fapping... so stay busy, start a new hobby, hang out with some friends.
    3. Cold showers - I dont know if you have ever had a cold shower before... but it is an instant urge killer.
    4. Write down your goals - Write in a journal or in your phone why you are doing this and refer back to it.
    5. Limit mindless internet browsing - Or even better just delete social media (Instagram is especially bad for me) and only go on the internet when you have a purpose.
    6. learn about addiction and how PMO effects our brain.
    7. Believe in yourself
    - If you think you will fail, you will fail... like i said before this is not easy, or something you should take lightly. You are taking a big steep towards bettering yourself. I believe in you, so believe in yourself.

This was supposed to be a 2 or 3 point list but I started to get carried away... anyways. good luck

    7 essential rules right there!
Number 2 - Keeping busy is the winner for me.

    Hi trevski,
Thank you for your reply I really appreciate the advice and honesty. Also from my experience of trying to stop in the past I know that its really hard, and I feel that it will be really useful for me to have support from others who are in a similar thing. Thats great you have made it 38 days. It's inspiring to see. I am going to start a counter today. perhaps for 21 days to give it an initial go. Can I ask a few questions..
    What is an accountability partner?
Do you know any website about PMO addiction for information about it?

Thanks again for the message. It feels good to have found nofap and be in contact.
