I know that edging is very bad. And i am not fapping since a week. Today is my day 8. So can i view a bit of nude photos without even touching my penis. I know its hard to do that but say if i can control myself from edging and ofcourse masturbation, Can i view those pictures? What will be the consequences?

  2. I think it does not help you at all. It is not only a question of : is it good or bad? The right question is : does it help with your will of quitting PMO? Getting those pictures in your brain and memory does not help you with quitting M: they remain in your memory and when you feel less strong, they will come up to your mind and make you fall.

    Be strong!

    Toughking,

I wouldn't advise it at all. If you are battling porn-induced erectile dysfunction then the best way forward is to completely abstain from all lewd, racy, sexual or indecent stimulation. It literally is a slippery slope back into hell.

The nude picture thing is a rationalization by the more primitive layers of your brain i.e. the "I want that reward NOW!" area. You need to learn to calmly and gently override that with your frontal lobes, those regions of the brain responsible for delaying gratification, evaluating long-term consequences, etc.

But it is also a good idea to rely on the willpower as little as possible. So that involves things like: sitting on your hands when cravings get intense, going somewhere public, roaring and thumping your chest and doing pushups on the ground, putting ice on your genitals, or whatever it may be.

You should also create a list of things which trigger intense cravings, so you can consciously avoid those things or, if it is inevitable to run into those triggers, to be prepared. Studies show that you unconsciously conserve willpower if you are expecting to be in a future situation where it will be required more than ever.

Hope these tips help. Stay strong comrade!

SO I had been having some trouble myself with the "grey area". I would watch youtube videos that were not porn, but had women in bikinis. I would go on facebook and look through my female friends' profiles to find bikini pics. Etc. Etc. It slowly lead to something much more provocative where I got to a point of X'ing out of it and squirming in my seat. I walked away from the situation and when I reanalyzed it, I realized how addicted I was. That was my turning point. Since then, I have had a lot more self control of avoiding these types of situations. I just look back and think of myself squirming in my seat with an uncontrollable NEED for anything porn-like.

So here's my point, that I hope you understand. JUST BECAUSE YOU'RE NOT WATCHING TWO PEOPLE HAVE SEX, IF YOU ARE VIEWING ANYTHING THAT POTENTIALLY TURNS YOU ON, IT'S PORN.

I had been "cheating" with stuff that was hardly considered porn, but since my brain was treating it like porn (even bikini pics on facebook) I feel that I barely rewired my brain over the first month. I haven't masturbated or watched real porn in 20 something days, but it might have been for naught seeing as I was boderline "cheating".

Please don't make the same mistake. Learn from us. You can do it.

Be very careful about what you watch- when I've been PMO free for a week, my mind races when I see even slightly suggestive images/ videos.

I strongly advise you to avoid anything which makes your brain feel sexually aroused.

It's not always the images themselves that cause addiction, but the clicking, searching and getting up multiple tabs that really drown your brain in dopamine.

I started listening to erotic hypnotic tapes on YouTube, figuring what's the harm?

This led to a little bit of edging, then a lot of edging, then full blown relapse

Anything artificial that stimulates my brain begins a cycle of edging which leads to PMO for me, and it's the edging that really messes up my moods

Don't do it, bro. It will eventually lead you to masturbation.

I don't know if anyone above mentioned it earlier but I just want to add that it is so easy to give yourself the excuse to "just watch some nude pics". But when you actually done that you most definitely want more. The urges will then force you to "only watch a few porn clips". After that you are pretty much screwed, it will be really really hard not to give in to fapping at this stage.

It is just not worth it.
    Stay strong everyone!

  16. Just to reenforce with what everyone else is saying - no you shouldn't. Arguably pornographic material is much worse on the brain than excessive masturbation could ever be. I would avoid it at all costs. For some people, nudity is art. But for most of us on here, it is reenforcing the objectification and brain pathways that cause us problems.

Fight the temptation dude! I call it the roadblock theory, i'm adapting it from something else but it still works. Imagine a long stretch of road with people standing at the end. At the other end of the road is a car going 150mph towards those people. How easy will it be to stop and not hit those people? Pretty difficult yeah? No imagine that same road but it's full of road blocks and speed bumps. There is really no way that car could hit those people because of the stuff in the way right? It's the same with any temptation. It starts out with just nude pics, the cars is speeding up, but if you don't have any roadblocks to slow you down or stop you what's to stop you from going all the way? It's easy to say i won't look at porn or touch myself when you aren't horny or hurting for a fix. It's completely different when you've started down the road, and not so easy to stop with the pedal to the floor and the hormones and chemicals pumping in your brain. You could easily look at pics and be fine, but your brain is smarter than you are and soon nude pics won't be enough and you'll be itching for something stronger or your brain will try and rationalize it "oh one porn video won't hurt" and then you're back to the PMO beginning. Just say NO. Put up road blocks: put your computer or whatever in a room so everyone can see what you are doing, won't be so tempted then. My brother got a different phone that had limited internet so he wasn't tempted. I find that being by myself leads to more temptation, try to occupy yourself with something or other people. Hopefully you get the idea.

Don't do it! In my previous (unsuccessful) attempts to quit, I would always start back up again by reading sex stories and convincing myself that it was okay because there were no actual images. The effect, however, was just the same. Soon, the stories wouldn't be enough and I would click one of the many links to look at semi-nude pictures, which would lead to full nude pics, which lead to "soft" videos, then hard videos, harder videos, etc. and before I knew it I was right back where I started. Take my advice and don't start down this road! If you're looking at them to get aroused, it's the same as porn.
