People who have gone 90,120 and 180+ and then relapsed, how did it happen?

I have had streaks in the 90s, a 124 and recently a 211 i.e. 3, 4 and 7 month streaks (approx.).

Often, I find that one long streak leads into another. But that can only happen if you don't binge, thereby setting your progress back significantly. So, I remember after one of these long streaks I weakened and looked at porn subs (underwear photos) for some time. But I stopped anything further happening and set off straight away on my next streak. I feel as if I have rebooted my internal processes because I no longer crave porn and masturbation in the way I did previously. But I have a memory of something pleasurable, so an occasional stumble is possible. I do not regard myself as invincible!

 

According to me this is a lifetime struggle. I also relapsed at 120+ days.

 

As any addict to anything will tell you can fall all the way right back into the same hole you crawled out of. I didn't binge after my fall but I have been bouncing between 1 week and 1 month streaks. Plus there was a period of a week where I was traveling and back to daily.
Still a shift has occurred: I know what it's like to be free, and I have a much better sense of the self inflicted lies and darkness when I'm not. I am ready to fully recommit and am currently planning to keep my current streak going and stay clean for the next year.

 

Speaking of 90+ days....my best streak of the year was 3 point something weeks ...after bout 2 weeks most of my PMO induced effect went....i forgot about the addiction n stuff...i felt lik I made it...i was no longer aroused by shitty stuff except a few fetishes...i was kind of overconfident....but then the wet dream happened!:'(.....i felt really bad n drained.....the chaser effect took over ( lik brock lesnar on d undertaker xD ) n my streak was over!.......now I know it takes a Saitama to get back once fall n indulge again

 

I made it to 90 days and got cocky. I started having one night stands again and everything was working fine but I still couldn't really get a girlfriend and was frustrated. I had blamed my inability to do so on my PMO addiction, so my naturally my mind thought "Well I guess that wasn't the problem!" and I convinced myself to re-introduce it to my life in small doses. It helped curb my romantic frustration so for the first little while I thought "Okay, this can be a small part of my life and I'll be totally fine".

Let me tell you, that attitude does not work. It was two or three times a week a the onset but i quickly found myself spending the majority of my spare time in front of my computer screen, PMO-ing multiple times a day. My social life started to fall apart, my motivation took a hit and everything I had worked so hard to improve in my life started to regress. I continued for about a month, and then I snapped myself out of it and wound up back here.

A word to the wise: it's all or nothing. There's no such thing as small doses when you're a recovering addict.
