First Timer on "Hard Mode" 2016 (90 days)

    Hello everyone,

    I'm new here. Going "Hard Mode" for 90 days. First time posting, first time legitimately trying to kick the habit.

    I'm technically on Day 4, since I actually made a New Year's resolution to get in control before I discovered NoFap. I found out about it after watching a TED Talk called "The Great Porn Experiment." I had been aware of the video for a while, but only decided to watch it recently since kicking the habit wasn't high on my priority list.

    In any event, I hope I'm doing this right. I'm hoping to throw down a post reply every day to document my journey. I'm looking forward to getting in control and getting stronger. Would definitely appreciate any support, encouragement, and motivation.

    Day 5 Update
    I'm on day 5 of my 90 day Hard Mode challenge. So far, so good. Kept active today, so I'm keeping myself busy enough so I can sort of distract myself off of the habit. Right now, I'm feeling lucky; haven't really felt the temptation since I resolved to take up the challenge. I know it won't stay that way, but I'm riding this wave of determination while it lasts.

    Relapse Report
    Relapsed today.

    I was on the 90 day hard mode, starting Jan 1, 2016. Felt like I was on a good streak, but I started feeling pretty lonely about 2 days ago. Up until then, everything was great. Didn't really feel the urge; kept active; stayed involved in just about everything I do, but then just two days ago I felt pretty down on myself.

    Felt awful for doing it. Especially because in the middle, I knew I could stop and just sort of "walk it off" and get back to my commitment. But I didn't.

    Gonna reset today, and keep at this until I get it right. Since my addiction, 9 days is my longest record without doing PMO at all. It's a good start, I guess. But no satisfaction until that 9 is a 90.

    Day 1 Update
    Starting fresh today. I relapsed, I think because I stopped my other New Year's resolution of meditating for 5-10 minutes each day. I know it's a good idea to replace an addiction with an active habit that you develop and maintain. About two days ago, I stopped meditating, precisely because my sleep schedule got messed up. So in that time, I kept missing my time to meditate and connect with myself. I think that was the start of the downfall. Gonna reset, gonna get over this, gonna make this happen.

    Day 2 Update
    Almost forgot to post. Busy day for me today. Had a chance to reconnect with old friends today, so I'm feeling pretty pumped, pretty good.

    I'm about to hit the sack, but before I do, I'm gonna meditate for a bit. Keep my spirits up, keep myself grounded. Hopefully that'll help me fall asleep faster and give me less of an opportunity to fantasize and/or get tempted.

    I also intent on introducing medication in my routine and methods to cope. I found some interesting content on youtube called "binaural beats/isochronic tones" that might sound interesting to some...I'm no expert. Maybe its only the placebo effect I don't know, but maybe it helps to feel good/relaxed without having to PMO.

    @Ikindaknew, I've tried those tones, but I never really got into those. I'm glad that you've found a technique that works.

    Day 3 Update
    Feeling pretty crud today. Bad day at work, and had a friend just acting like a jerk today. He doesn't usually, so it's a completely forgivable offense, but I can't say that it didn't affect me. I'm pretty peeved at him. Worked off my energy at the gym. Blasted music today to vent.

    Gotta be especially vigilant tonight. I'm ticked. I'm tired. And I had a drink or two. Good thing that it makes me sleepy; hopefully I can just fall asleep straightaway before any of the urges hit.

    Hello,

    Reporting a relapse, and pretty disappointed in myself. Fell off NoFap after requiring a quick reset somewhere in mid-January, and have been in relapse since. I want to recommit to my 90 Day Hard mode. I started yesterday.

    Going to seek an accountability partner or group. Going to recommit to meditating every day (as I was trying to do when I started NoFap). I am going to seriously implement the measures I prepared for my trigger moments. And I am going to take that Emergency Button more seriously this time around.
