What to do about nudity in movies?

I watched a movie that had a little bit of nudity (that I wasn't expecting) and I wasn't really sure what to do. I was curious if this particular actress would go nude, and I was curious to see what she looked like.

I realized I haven't really come up with a plan for what to do when I come along non-intentional porn substitutes. Should I have covered the screen with my hand? But I didn't want to do that. After I saw, I didn't crave more, but wasn't sure if I should have acted different. For all I know, seeing that bit of nudity caused my small slump today.

So I was thinking... should I completely cut out movies that are rated R (or rather, movies that state that there is nudity in the rating)? I've become a huge movie person in the last year or two and really love watching movies, so I would absolutely dread cutting this out of my life. Any thoughts?

I belive we should cut all the nudity material. We can't put ourselves in this kind of risk.

I'd like to believe that, but do you think an Alcoholic must stop watching TV because there is people shown drinking in shows and movies?

It's so sad when you realize that sexuality is plastered everywhere. I would say the in the best of cases, the non P-rated material should not be banned, although not being encouraged. Trust me, I feel Seth...I get aroused by watching People magazine...

I know what you mean. I've been there, that's why I think like that.

In every TV shows I watch, there is one recurring character very pleasing to the eyes that I enjoy watching. I swear, producers are doing it on a purpose....

This is a tough question to answer. Triggers are almost everywhere nowadays. It's sad that you can't even watch TV or a YouTube video without coming across a woman wearing revealing clothes. There are even advertisements that are depicting women this way. These things can arouse people and give dopamine boosts. I have asked this type of question before and the answer I got was to cut all the videos/entertainment during the reboot. Even if it was not intentional we don't know if there will be a woman in the scene. These images can feed the addiction and make the recovery process slow. I believe it is better to avoid the movies and videos if you can.

Is nudity in movies the problem or a symptom of the problem? I think it's what you do with what you see that is the problem.

I think that "I was curious what she looked like" is one of the lamest and most convincing lies we tell ourselves for that little bit of dopamine. Cutting down on/cutting out media is a great way to aid in recovery. My best streaks have been while away from any kind of media, especially private media. If you aren't willing to cut movies/tv out of your life for now, then I think you should do what you mentioned about looking into what content they have beforehand and choosing what to watch/not watch based on that. If a nude/sexy scene does come up though, just look away from the screen. Don't look back until the scene is over, you'll hear when it changes. If you need to mute the tv too, just count to 10 slowly and take a super quick peak to see if the scene has changed. Don't fool yourself into rewinding in case you missed something. Anything you missed will be easy to pick up in context.
I know this next one isn't what you asked about, but someone else mentioned youtube. I believe that youtube is a big problem for porn addicts. It closely resembles porn sites and gets our minds thinking in the wrong patterns, and then it's only one click on the wrong video and you're assaulted by strong urges that tempt you to give up on greatness.

I tend to only watch PG-13 movies. If I want to see an R rated movie I do some research and see if there is any nudity on it. If there is I won't watch it.

Youtube is especially bad. The worst is when watching a video about quitting porn and the sidebar has videos that are youtube's version of porn.

I've decided to do this. I don't think I can trust myself to look away when there's nudity in a movie. If I think about the movie I saw yesterday, I really wanted to see her naked (because I wasn't expecting there to be nudity) and when I saw - I felt content, didn't want to see more and that was that. But I can't see myself actually looking away. It's one thing to deliberately watch a movie with nudity for the nudity (like I did when I was watching Game of Thrones) but that's completely fooling myself and disrupting the streak. I have internalized the message that any bit of nudity poses nothing but difficulty. Regardless, I don't see myself looking away, so I just have to avoid it at all costs.

It's interesting that I don't feel this way about seductive ads that pop up on my cpu. My first thought when I see this is "This won't help my recovery - let me X out". Yet, when watching a movie, I don't feel the same instinctive repulsion and desire to look away.

As I already said, I 100% agree with you.

I'm guilty of being aroused by youtube stuff:(. That was over X-mas, the last couple weeks. I'm shocked at what I managed to find attractive. I busted my Download cap by $100 for the month of December, I bought some MO-related gear on Amazon.ca while PMO'ing. Man. My addiction did cost me about $200 last month! Good thing my wife engaged a discussion with me, voiced her opinion which helped me getting out of the PMO closet....
