Stop beating yourself up every time you relapse! How to succeed in your goals!

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by NotSoAverageJoe, Apr 11, 2014.

  1. One thing I have noticed on the forum is how utterly devastated people are when they relapse.
Setting their counter back to zero as if they completely failed and have to start over from scratch.

I am not sure if this is a good idea. You need to accept your relapse as something that just happens, nobody is perfect.

Instead of trying to reach X amount of days, maybe just try to do a little better then last time? Say you relapsed at 10 days, when your goal was 30. "Fuck now I gotta start all over again!" which will lead to frustration and raising your chance of another relapse. Instead of this, be happy you made it to 10 days, celebrate your victory and see if you can make it to 12 days.

The likelihood of you being able to quit cold turkey, 100% for 30/60/90 days is hard as fuck.
Start small. One day at a time.

I agree, i think that i have a big goal ( PMO free for ever) and that always lead me to the relapse when i remember how cool the orgasm is, when i relapse, i feel like shit, but i learned here that failure is a part of the success, we have to walk throw failure.

    Thanks Man :)

Thanks for the talk. I relapsed about a week ago and now I'm at it again. 7days PMO free. The goal is 40. I'm just glad to be in a community that supports one another with positive vibes.
