Do not go on it. You will find a way around it if determined enough and so it may buy you time to discover how to do it but it's not flawless.

Use blockers to help you as well as other tools and ideas that work for you. But do not rely on them

  3. I use K9 web protection. It's a free for personal use website blocker. You can block categories, such a porn, and also individual websites. It's all password protected, even uninstillation of program itself. I use it to kinda shield myself from stuff that might accidentally pop up through google search or links on forums. But the problem is of course that you will know the password, in which case it's very easy to unblock. I don't have that problem cos I don't seek out porn myself, I just kinda shield myself from accidental viewing cos then I might not be able to stop. But if you do you might want to do something creative. Like for example write down some kind of long number combination as password, that you know you won't be able to remember, put it in envelope and give it to friend for keeping so you don't know the password. If you want to unblock stuff you will need to call a friend first. And then you will have to deal with embarrassment of him knowing that you about to watch P and MO. Or maybe put it in a place that is 6 hours long car drive away from your home, like a rental storage box. By the time you get there the urge will be gone. All kinds of fancy ways to keep the password away from yourself, you can figure something else out too I'm sure.

    Hi there.
You could also try changing your DNS servers on your router. Open it up & set the DNS servers as follows:

    208.67.222.123
    208.67.220.123

If you want to run it, try it for a while. It might block the odd harmless site, but I think it's worth it. If possible, get someone else to change the router password.

It won't catch everything, but most...

I think everybody has their own long and mostly unsuccesful experiences with 'porn blocker'. And yes I tried some, especially K9. It works , yes! And yes I even used this Mailservice called 'futureme' to be able to send my password via email to a future time so I couldnt change my settings! But trust me, you always find either one way around, or you find other 'unblocked' stuff(unfortunately sometimes even better stuff). So perhaps save your time try to find THE solution with a blocker...it is very sad how unsafe the whole internet actually is and probably always will be!

  6. Yes, you are right. Blockers can fail, if you really want them to. Ultimately everybody should work on dealing with the cause rather then symptom. With addiction and self control rather than the fact that P exists on internet. The problem is in our heads and THAT's the part we have to work on, censoring things but not dealing with source is just covering up the problem. That being said, they are a good tool for somebody to still use, in my opinion, when they are at early stage of dealing with P addiction. And while they might not bock everything they still block most things. Better than nothing. They not gonna solve your problem but they help a little bit. I think it's useful to have as much tools and help as we can possibly get.

Derrick85, what devices do you usually look at porn on? If you use a smart phone, you could uninstall the browser, at least until you have some good clean time behind you & feel stronger.

If it's a laptop or tablet, where do you tend to use? At work, at home? Do you have a partner, friend or work colleague you could develop some accountability to?

If we're going to stop PMO for good, we have to look at it as a whole ecosystem.

Yepp youre right! In fact I use my kind of blocker via apple software (iphone/ ipad) and it actually helps in a kind of relaxing my addicted brain! But i was always on the same time disappointed by them, because it kept me so many months (years?) disillusioned by all the ads and comments which proclaimed its 'safety' which in fact it wasnt...
In Short: Blocker definitl yes (doesnt really matter which one) but be aware of their 'dangerous' ('appealing?') weakness!

I do it on both my phone and laptop. It just depends on when it hits me or if I'm alone or not.

And you're right, I once had a block on my phone and found a way around it so it makes sense that I could easily find a way again. I want to be hopeful this time around. I never had the support like this forum was designed for so I gotta break it!

Derrick85, it's great that you've joined NoFap. I joined a while back but have only just started using it & am finding it a massive help.

The more time we can spend reading & contributing here - educating ourselves, encouraging others etc - the quicker our minds will heal & re-programme.

I'd certainly suggest that you spend some good solid time on here EVERY day, for the next few months at least.

    We are warriors.

I plan on it! I just don't want people to get annoyed. I'm sure that won't happen because that's what this forum is designed for, haha but I always over think especially when it comes to something like this.

Yeah, this forum certainly isn't a place one needs to feel inhibited. Go for it.

    More power to you meantime.

K9 is one of the better ones I've tried to use. Knowing me my whole life revolves around a computer from school work to gaming everything is on it. I always find a way around a blocker. I don't use them anymore. When I get an urge I stay away from my cellphone and computer for a while. Start listening to some good music and eventually the urges go away. I have seen triggers, and when I do I turn the other direction and walk away as far as possible

  15. I think the most important thing is to condition your mind to not want to go there. Blockers may prevent a slip up, but eventually you find a way around them, unless someone else sets it up for you with their hidden password. Keep telling yourself several times a day that you don't need it or want it, your mind will slowly absorb those thoughts and they will grow stronger each day. Not doing something because you don't want to is far better than not doing something because you can't or unable to do.

32 days in and I don't want or need porn or anything artificial that I can use to bring me to O.

That comes from deep within and a few years of working out what's the best method for me.

The best bit in this is feeling you don't want to PMO rather than finding a method to stop you.

My therapist recommend I use a porn blocking service but I said no.
To me this is my problem and I am an adult. If I cannot overcome this with complete access at any time on my own what will stop me the moment I get into a situation with no blocker? It empowers me to know that I could right now open up Google and search for garbage. Every day I refrain is a day that makes me stronger.
I'm going on 4 months free after 29yrs of daily viewing.
If I can do this you can do this.
Be strong. Take pride in every day you refrain. It's a battle won in a terrible internal war that will last the rest of your life.
    Good luck.
