As a artist and musician there's so many songs that have influenced me, but they have in paramount ways at different stages of my life.

Being a dj means i get to share them with others, but most of the time i don't get to play the songs i enjoy and provide value to others.

I'd go so far to say that if it wasn't for music, i wouldn't be here now.

    So here goes,

A song that changed your life. (cheeky two to start!)

    >>> anybody trying to raise a family will appreciate this second one.

That was actually really awesome. I always liked Daddy Cool and Rasputin by Boney M.

The older bands are so much more musically talented instrumentally.

Here is an amazing piece, you might recognize part of it from The Exorcist:

  6. "Enter Sandman" is the song that started my love affair with heavy metal. And although my tastes have branched off into other styles since first hearing "Sandman" a decade ago, I'll always remember it as a defining moment in my life. It opened the doors to an entire world of music most people have never even heard.

Very cool! There is a part 2 which is the other side of the album (not as good IMO) and he has revisited the album several times since then and done other stuff. His name is Mike Oldfield. He tends toward a World music/New Age vibe on his more recent stuff.

And as far as inspirational lyrics and overall kickassness-this song is kind of a personal motto:

It's hard to pick a single, or even a few songs here. A song which actually was powerful enough to change my life? Wow. It's not easy to answer this and be honest with myself.

Anyway, I chose 'The Hand That Feeds' by Nine Inch Nails because it awoke my passion for music when it came out a decade ago. With my passion for music awoke my ability to think for myself. It's quite funny -- thinking for yourself (and living a life in freedom) is kind of what this song is about, but I wasn't aware of that when I listened to it as a teenager. I got into the meaning of the lyrics only a few years ago. The second verse is especially powerful I think.

    You're keeping in step
    In the line
Got your chin held high and you feel just fine
    Cause you do
    What you're told
But inside your heart it is black and it's hollow and it's cold

Just how deep do you believe?
Will you bite the hand that feeds?
Will you chew until it bleeds?
Can you get up off your knees?
Are you brave enough to see?
Do you want to change it?

    What if this whole crusade's
    A charade
And behind it all there's a price to be paid
    For the blood
    On which we dine
Justified in the name of the holy and the divine

Just how deep do you believe?
Will you bite the hand that feeds?
Will you chew until it bleeds?
Can you get up off your knees?
Are you brave enough to see?
Do you want to change it?

    So naive
I keep holding on to what I want to believe
    I can see
But I keep holding on and on and on and on

    [8X]
Will you bite the hand that feeds you?
Will you stay down on your knees?

Apparently, I blocked my web access to Youtube, so I can't add it to my post. However, one song that changed my life entirely was from singer, Selena Gomez, with the her song, "The heart wants what it wants." To some people, especially guys, females singers are not really their thing. Or maybe I'm just assuming...I also listen to alternative rock (my favorite) and other genres. This song helped me get through the worst breakup of my life. It just shows us how human we really are, that we do have a weakness to certain things. However, we can work on those weaknesses to strengthen them and to strengthen ourselves.

This song also started the healing process after she left a hole in my heart. She refused to help me and ignored me when I needed her at the lowest point of my life. It made me realize that I was insecure, selfish, needy, and other things. So I knew I had to make some big changes in my life including my own self esteem and better confidence around women. I cried for at least 2 days, but it was totally worth it.

Time can heal almost anything, including a broken heart. Now that I feel better, I can finally work on myself and changing who I am. This song may not speak to others as much as it speaks to me, but everyone has their preferences. However, on a side note, another song that helped me get through was 3 Days Grace, "I hate everything about you." And yes, I hated her fucking guts at that time lol.
