What helps you the most to fight the strong urges to M?

    Hello all, I have been having some very strong urges to masturbate and am finding myself edging more and more. I don't want to ever masturbate again but feel that I'm losing this battle.

    So I'm asking what helps you the most to not masturbate when you feel sexually stimulated and seem that you have to unload a whole lot of pressure of your clitoris/penis?
     
  2. You say you don't ever want to masturbate again, but edging IS masturbation (just without orgasm). If we are edging and telling ourselves we are "clean", we are just fooling ourselves. What helps me the most is to catch the urge at the earliest possible point and to distract myself. I find that the desire fades and if it comes back you just keep your mind full of something else. If you allow yourself to dwell on sex you will, indeed, lose the battle.
     
  3. Distraction is the most useful for me. I apparently like to torture myself with exciting stuff, so when I feel it's going to be like this, I put my shoes on and go for a walk, I tie my hands on my back, I splash my face with freezing water,I clench all my muscles, I do pushups. Also, I think that if you're to the point that you have "a whole lot of pressure of your clitoris/penis", it's not by chance, something excited you. Maybe you saw porn without wanting it or whatever, but there is a chance you saw things that you knew could be exciting for you. I think it could be more effective to focus on how not to watch things that gives you urges rather than how not to fail when the urges are there. Because in my humble opinion, the most effective way I've found to resist is just, well, resisting. If for a lambda reason, most probably because I watched concert videos or because I have my periods or whatever, I'm horny, I just don't masturbate. I don't touch myself, period. It's way too easy to slip to an orgasm without even realising. Keep strong brother, 74 dayz is an impressive streak :eek:

    EDIT: Also, writing here. How could I have forgot? This is the best. Put this forum as your home page (I put NoFap reddit as my homepage personally) and every time you have an urge, reply to a newbie thread. Definitely helpful. You won't relapse if you're busy saying someone with a lower streak than you not to relapse.

    When you feel an urge you have to stay positive. List all the reasons why you want to stay clean in your head. I like to wear a rubber band on my wrist. When you feel the urge to masturbate, just snap the rubber band so that it hurts you a bit. If you keep doing this ypur brain will associate masturbation with the pain of the rubber band hitting your wrist. I hope this helps:)

    Thanks for all the advises, I'll definitely try all of these. So far I haven't relapse and will have to try staying positive.

  7. Talking to people. And I don't mean via the internet or on a forum. I mean REAL people. I'm a VERY unsociable person but NoFap frees up some of the inherent anxiety. I find that the more uncomfortable you are - for me, this involves conversing with girls - the more adrenaline and charisma you have afterward. Whatever doesn't kill you...

    i'm finding that when i get the urge to MO i always feel the need to pee and when i pee the urge to MO goes for a few hours. Then it all starts again until i pee again.
    I don't know if Peeing will help you but you could give it a go
