Judging by the fact you are on this thread, you are thinking about PMO. If someone tells you not to think about something, you are still gonna think about it. If I say,"Don't think about an elephant" you are still thinking about it, get it?

Now this isn't for everybody but I've realized the more I think about quitting PMO, the more I think about doing it. The more time I spend on this website, the more I think about doing it. And I'm not saying anything bad about this website, it's one of the best communities I've seen in a while and I love it here. However, I had my longest streak of seven days and in those seven days, I rarely went on this website and it helped. Obviously, only staying off this website won't stop a relapse. I did come on the website when I had strong urges and reading motivational threads and journals helped but when I had no urges, I kept off the website and the internet as much as possible.

Now this isn't a fail-proof plan. I had to face it myself. When I wake up in the morning, I think about it. When I'm trying to sleep at night, I think about it. When I'm in the shower, I think about it. You've also got to realize, this world is filled with porn. And the sad part, it's easier than ever to find today than it was 20 years ago. You don't need to download anything or buy DVDs or shit like that. Hell, you basically can find it for free on the internet through one quick Google search. It's easier to find it today and it's everywhere which is why most of us got addicted to it and why it's hard to quit. PMO addiction most likely won't reach the public eye until 10-20 years from now. Porn makes money but I believe it will one day be the new cigarette. It's not as deadly but it can consume you and if used too much, it can ruin your life. Many of us had GBs of it on our hard drive. Many of us had a stash of magazines and DVDs kept in a box. All of us spent countless hours of our life searching for that perfect video.

When we quit, what do we do with those hours we spent on PMO? We should be doing things we've never done before. You've got to get your mind off PMO. You can't just stay holed up in your bedroom, searching the web all day and except yourself not to get urges. And I understand, we all have those boring hours where we have nothing to do but find something to fill up the time. I, for example, go to chess.com and play a few games of chess whenever I get bored or I might clean my room. So when you're bored, try going for a jog or read a book or walk your dog. Anything that will actively get your mind off PMO. I'm not going to go into too much detail but most of us had a place where we did our business. My spot was my bedroom bed. I try to stay off of my bed and out of my bedroom as much as possible now so I can keep my mind off of it. Because I can think hard in my mind,"Don't think about PMO. Don't think about PMO" but I'm still thinking about it and for me at least, it still fuels my urges.

I've learned the best way to deal with it is to truly figure out who YOU are. What actions usually led to you PMOing? What were you doing before you were PMOing? What do you think fueled your urges? What can you do when you are bored? Where do most of your "business" happen at? (ex. chair, bed, etc) We're all trying to beat this addiction and for me, as long as I keep my mind off PMOing 100% I get little to no urges. Obviously, the thought comes up but I usually do something that'll get it off my mind. I noticed staying in my room, laying on my bed searching the web fuels my thoughts of PMO because this is what I usually did before I did my business. I'd search the web, get bored and search for a video. IMO, I think it's more than just quitting PMO, it's changing what led to you PMOing in the first place.

    What do you guys think?

Totally agree. I wanted to write such a post but there is so much to say that I delayed it ^^

We should't replace PMO with unproductive time but use it to create, do other things. The day you get rid of PMO is not the day you reach 90, rather the day you don't think about it and are totally reborn as a balanced individual.

misunderstood, you are right on, especially about the figuring out why you do what you do when you do it. I figured that with such great wisdom, you must be close to my age to have attained all that wisdom, but I went looking at your other threads and want to applaud you for your wisdom and insight at your young age and also for your willingness to share that wisdom with all of us. I applaud you for getting a grip (pun intentional) on the masturbation after only 2 years rather than after 30 years as I did. My hat is off to you, young man.

@abra I agree however, I don't think there will ever be a day where we never think about PMO, especially P. It's just everywhere and too many of us spent too many hours and days doing it. However, I hope that one day I'll be able to think of PMO and chuckle before continuing on with my day.

@freedomwarrior Thank you, I don't really consider myself wise but thanks :). People like you who spent so many years inspire me the most. I like how you're still beating this addiction even after doing it for 30 years. Fight on, brother.

@Misunderstood: Keep going and you will see in a few months time. There is hope and peace ahead for us, "avec le temps tout s'en va". And porn is not in the nature, rarely in family's house, for instance. We used to see porn on screens (for most of us), at the begining of NoFap it seems to be everywhere and then we make clear distinctions between pretty women lightly dressed, erotic commercials, movies nudity and porn.
