Relapsed Last Night

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by LifeTransformation2017, Apr 24, 2014.

  1. Last night I was lying in bed and couldn't fall asleep. Then I began to fantasize and soon became horny. I tried to resist my urge to masturbate, but I couldn't. Afterwards I realized that I have most of my relapses when I'm lying in bed and can't fall asleep. I think this happens because I often use my computer or cell phone before I go to bed. For those who don't know computers or mobile devices can act like a stimulant and keep you awake. From now on I will stay off my computer and cell phone before I go to bed. Does anyone know any other ways I can avoid relapsing in bed?

I use this trick sometimes, wear jogging pants or trousers that have a drawstring on the waist - draw it tight as you can without hurting yourself and then tie it in a knot, affirming to yourself that those regions are shut away for the night and out of bounds. It's a simple but effective way to deter an idle wandering hand.

Also maybe give the mind something else to focus on whilst waiting to fall asleep, eg. an audiobook or relaxation CD like bodyscan, meditation etc....

  3. Thanks for the tip! The pants I wear to bed have a drawstring so I'll be sure to tie it in a knot tonight.

I usually find that I get aroused first because I lay on my belly and then I get a boner. I think that when I lay down in a fetal position and avoid any contact with my crotch and anything else that it works perfectly, and laying in bed doesn't act like a trigger.

Must agree, I have had the same problem as Salvage, belly down doesn't help matters. Lying on your back also leaves you open to a wandering hand.

Read a book in bed. You distract yourself from thinking and you will find yourself getting tired after 15 minutes or so. It helps when you just got off a screen-device as it allows your body to produce melatonin (sleeping hormone). The blue light of screens prevents this.
