Hi everyone, I'm relatively new but I've been lurking for a while. I'd like to know whether anyone here knows of an effective anaphrodisiac. Something that will absolutely kill a man's sexual appetite. I've been searching for a very long while for this. I've heard about "Libidno" but their website is dead/non-existent.

I've read that certain anti-depressants work well but:
    a) They have other nasty side effects and
    b) They are prescription only.

I am not suffering from depression and I don't want to do anything that could potentially shorten my lifespan or create medical complications for me. I do not have any pre-existing medical conditions and do not take any drugs. I'm slightly overweight, but active.

I've heard people recommend licorice, Graham crackers, saltpeter and so-called "chasteberry" but support for their efficacy is anecdotal at best.

My next request is a bit...odd. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a drug which can disable a person from feeling romantic attraction, making it impossible to fall for someone. I'm guessing it would be some type of apathy-inducing drug. Again, I've heard that some anti-depressants do this, but if it requires a prescription and causes life-threatening side-effects, I'm not interested. Thanks for reading my long post.

TL;DR: I want a sex-drive killer that won't kill me, and I'd like a feelings inhibitor thingy that also won't kill me.

  2. There was a study done in Turkey around the use of Spearmint tea in reducing testosterone levels which may be a good place to start - http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19585478

Be careful with using licorice, as it really increases blood pressure.

I don't know where you get the "killing me" impression about some meds, maybe there is anti depressants that have nasty side effects, I'm sure.
But Not all medication will kill you (Im curious about shich do you consider a killer".

I only know that there medication out there for medical castration, but those are prescribed to sex offenders.

But a few searches here, YMMV:

Long ago, I had heard that saltpeter was used by various militaries all over the world, and assumed that it was true.

When I saw you post, I decided to check on Snopes, which states that "saltpeter doesn't suppress sexual urges and is dangerous to use."

Thanks sooo sooo much for this. I hadn't heard about Androcur. I'd have to research it thoroughly before trying it. Isn't it funny how there are so many foods which act as aphrodisiacs but the one thing that so many of us really need is difficult to find. I suspect that scientists aren't really specifically looking for a way to quell the human libido, but I think they should.

I would talk to a doctor about SSRI anti-depressants. When you are talking about "potentially lethal" side effects, it sounds like you are referring to MAO inhibitors or something, which are not widely used anymore. I was on Lexapro (escitalopram) for about 6 months, and it totally killed my libido after the first week. It was wonderful. I didn't have any other side effects. I've been off of them for a few months and my libido is still under control. I was taking them for depressed mood, but also hoping for the anti-libido effects; I was very glad that it improved both.

I'm not saying that you will not have side effects, but I don't think you should be scared off from anti-depressants. I was really depressed and I couldn't control my libido for years, and I wish that I had taken anti-depressants earlier. I'm not a doctor of course, but all I'm saying is that there is no harm in talking to a doctor.
