I am a bit older at age 54, I have develop PIED.
I have had a lot of sex and a lot of wild sex fueled by my addition to porn, and the sex fueled my porn addiction. It was a vicious circle.

I remember a time not long ago when I was frustrated because I was always horny and not that much sex.

I have quit porn for good, presently in PM-mode since 7/12 and already I have seen improvements, I am not fooling myself it's going to take time and I might have to go into hard mode.

BUT.... will things ever go back the way they were pre-Porn?

Do you have direct experience with that?
Do you have good source of info?

Sex is a natural desire in the human instinct. It is not a matter of the desire itself, but rather the gradual level of the desire. The sexual desire will stay, but the key in your transformation is how you view sex. Is it an act of acting on your wildest fantasies, or rather your instincts? In this community those might seem intertwined, but I view they are not. Most of our sexual fantasies are developed by our use of porn, whereas our instincts are our sexual desires pre-porn.

Key point in this execution are not to aim for your sexual pleasure, but rather find the synergy between two bodies acting on the same activity at once.

  3. Yes, physically the body has gone back to pre-porn status. What I wonder about is the brain. Hypofrontality is definitely something that I could detect in myself from all the descriptions.

    From ybop:
    • Hypofrontality: In this study, researchers found a 10-20% reduction in frontal cortex gray matter in adolescents with Internet addiction. Research on other addictions has already established that decreases in frontal-lobe gray matter and functioning reduce both impulse control and the ability to foresee consequences.
Microstructure Abnormalities in Adolescents with Internet Addiction Disorder. (2011)

"The presence of relatively immature cognitive control, makes [adolescence] a time of vulnerability and adjustment, and may lead to a higher incidence of affective disorders and addiction among adolescents. As one of the common mental health problems amongst Chinese adolescents, internet addiction disorder (IAD) is currently becoming more and more serious. ... The incidence rate of internet addiction among Chinese urban youths is about 14%. ... These results demonstrated that as internet addiction persisted, brain atrophy ... was more serious." (Also see this earlier Chinese study.)

For 17 years I've been wasting away my brain. Literally. Grey matter atrophy in the frontal cortex. I cannot find anything about it coming back. I fear it doesn't and the damage in this regard is permanent.

I have never known life before porn. I can tell you from someone who grew up with it, it is amazing the further out I get from it. I started at 6 years old with magazines, I moved on to PMO at 10 years old. I stopped at 24, I'm 25 now. My life is so much better without it.
