Is there such thing as a healthy use of porn?

This is so not true, its a very one sided opinion and for you to describe it as 'nihilistic' I think you don't have the foggiest idea of what nihilism entails, if anything a lot of nihilistic behaviour is counter to the control that is inflicted on us in our everyday lives and the preachy attitude of others who think they are better than others!

From what I can tell you, that's a lie. It always starts with the first porn magazine, video, or some other enticing material and you're already hooked. Porn is very addictive, so if your friends claims to watch porn once or twice a week, they either have a ridiculously strong will or their addiction is just getting started which I highly doubt. If drugs like weed, cocaine, heroine, and even porn causes you have impulsive behaviors, withdrawal symptoms, strong urges, sleeping problems, and so on, then it's considered a freaking addition. Even if you're watching it once or twice a week. If they can't quit watching porn all together for a long period of time with no bad side effects, then they're already addicted. That's just my opinion.

  3. Interesting question. The answer for me is no, there is no healthy use. It's not healthy for society (racism, sexism, and worse), it's not healthy for consumers (chemical brain alterations akin to drug use and possible psychological disturbances), and it's not healthy for producers (if you've done any reading on ex performers this goes without explanation).

There is; I worked at a mom and pop video store in the mid 90's and tons of couples would come into rent porn videos, all the time. In fact they kept the business going for years. It's obviously a problem for men like us who abuse it online.

I do no believe this addiction is much different from any other in how it operates within the user. Of, course in saying this, I am disregarding the specific ramifications of a PA addiction vs others, (intimate nature of it, the sex industry, societal views.etc).

What causes addiction to one substance vs another is an interesting question, that is still being heavily researched.

What causes one person to become an addict vs another becoming a casual user, has been heavily hypothesised on.

If you are interested in learning more about why that is, I highly recommend reading a book by Dr. Gabor Matte called "in the realm of hungry ghosts". I spent years working in the addiction and mental health field and I can say this book, and anything by Dr. Gabor is hands down the best most progressive expert in the field; who, has conducted incredibly compelling, rat based clinical trails on your topic; offering subjective evidence to addiction as a means of early socialization. Think support system vs isolation.

    Personally I'd say no.

Porn is a super stimuli, so no matter in what amount you use it you will still be de-sensitised to the real deal somewhat.
If you plan on only using porn and never having sexual relationships with real humans then moderate use wouldn't be a problem to you! Whilst unrealistic I know there are people who have no interest in actual sex.

I believe it's different to the whole drinking in moderation is fine argument because alcohol is a completely different substance to anything else, sure you might start to enjoy alcohol but it's not going to hinder your ability to drink water. Whereas porn hijacks the brains pathways into believing that using porn is the best way to spread the body's seed so to speak.

I'd say there are ppl out there who can indulge in it and go back to their normal lives. Alas I'm not one of them as I just want more and more

I don't watch porn as much as I used to but even when I do, it doesn't affect other areas of my life. I still study well, go to the gym, have my hobbies and go on dates. Before, I wasn't doing those things, but when I really started to focus on my goals, I just didn't feel the need to watch porn every day.
So yes, if you have your life together, I believe occasional porn is ok.
