280+ days, hard mode : how the miracle happened

Discussion in 'Success Stories' started by Proxydore, Aug 7, 2016.

  1. Getting this thread back on track ;) I agree with this - I never realized how much time and energy i was spending looking at women on the street- all day you're basically flipping on that 'go fap ' switch multiple times and telling your subconscious 'its all about getting off' . Think about it. Why are you looking at women on the street?

I turned it into kind of a challenge /game with myself- how many 'points' could score for every one i avoided looking at... it also relieved a lot of anxiety with me as well...

This isn't to say we can't admire female beauty - but try doing this for a day and you'll realize how much you're thinking about sex all the time.. it's really eye opening.

An inspiring post! Let us pray for one another. This addiction to porn and masturbation is a spiritual illness. You are right to turn to the Lord and His Mother. Only if we fill the void with God can we be really free.

Did you read all of Romans 3? or did you take Romans 3:23 out of context and stretch it make it cover things it wasnt suppose to cover?
In Romans 3:23 "all have sinned" St. Paul is speaking of personals sins we commit, as opposed to original sin we inherit. St Paul does not mean "all" in an absolute sense, which would include every single person. Some obvious exceptions are Jesus, Adam & Eve before the Fall, and children below the age of reason. Catholics believe Mary is another exception. Earlier St Paul says in Romans 3:9-1: all men, both Jews and Greeks, are under the power of sin, as it is written "None is righteous, no, not one, no one understands, no one seeks for God" St paul is quoting Psalm 14, when quoting the OT, St. Paul always respects the original context. He never twists a verse to mean something opposite from what the author intended. Psalm 14:3-5 "They have all gone astray, they are all alike corrupt, there is none that does good, no, not one. Have they no knowledge, all the evildoers who eat up my people as they eat bread, and do not call upon the Lord? There they shall be in great terror, for God is with the generation of the righteous." So what did King david mean by " there is none that does good, no, not one"? David is lamenting widespread rebellion in Israel. David's enemies are not just the Gentile nations, but also fellow Israelites such as Absalom and Saul, members of his own covenant family.
David is using "all" in the collective sense of including large proportions of each group( Jews as well as Gentiles), not in the distributive sense of including each and every single individual. we know this because David immediately distinguishes "all the evildoers" from "my people" and "the generations of the righteous" If absolutely "no one" is righteous, how can David possibly refer to "the generation of the righteous"?
St Paul is using this quote in the same collective, not distributive , sense. Gentiles are not the only group sinning against God, even God's covenant people, the Jews are rebelling. Likewise, Romans 3:23 uses "all" in a collective, not distributive, sense. St Paul is saying there is no distinction between circumcised Jews and non-circumcised gentiles, both groups commit personal sins and both need to be justified by faith.
Even in we look at Romans 5 :12 and 5:18-19, where St. Paul teaches that all men inherit the sin of Adam (original sin), we still must admit exceptions, Jesus, Adam and Eve are exceptions all Christians would acknowledge. Catholics believe Mary, the New Eve, is also an exception.

Why don't you go ahead and give me the scripture reference where Paul explains that Mary and certain other humans are sinless. Because I just heard you say that the Bible teaches that everyone sins, but that we must make exceptions for those who actually don't. I don't know about you but I believe there is one power with the authority to judge right and wrong and He is very clear about what He meant. The Word is God breathed. Not just scribbles from saints. They are instruments. Don't try to meddle with scriptures. Goodbye

  6. CofG, I frankly think you should just take this to a separate thread. I understand that you want to 'counter' the theological points here, but remember this thread was started by a devout Christian,--ok maybe not 'your' Christianity but a devout Christian - who has found salvation through the most ancient practices in the Christian faith. Why try to disrupt that. Do you think you are 'more christian' than mother Theresa? Or Saint Bernadine? Or the THOUSANDS of orthodox Christians who resisted communism and often literally died for their faith? are you really that arrogant?

Earlier you had a one word response to my post (or others, difficult to tell) "idolatry' well.. some people make scripture into idolatry.....

and btw, there is plenty of 'idolatry' among protestants (and remember I am protestant) - Christian zionists ( this isn't just idolatry it's heresy) the olsteens and prosperity gospel, the list goes on and its very long...

But again you ignored my earlier point.. if these schisms didn't exist the bells of Hagia sophia would be ringing out.. and now with both the secular west and islamic east threatening us now is not the time for this sort of divisiveness. We don't even need it on a forum of guys trying to quit porn.

We all accept the nicean creed. let's start from there..

"In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God." John 1:1

    Of course I idolize God.

I do not think I am a better Christian than anyone. I don't think anyone else is either. Who am I to judge while there is a God above me? There is a reason why I entered this thread with only God's word and nothing else. I let Him speak for me.

I also acknowledged the OP and his triumph over PMO. It is very encouraging. I also said I didn't want to argue theology. Just quoted scripture. But all of you seem to be unable to accept the word of God for what it is. I am not dillusional, many thousands of Christians stand beside me because I follow God's word in its purest form, without the disruption of earthly conclusions.

I also said goodbye. I will say it again. Good bye. God bless.

Just thinking: the "schism" did not begin with Hagia Sophia, but with Jesus (rejection), and even earlier: Adam and Eve?

Beautiful post and signature as well.

"Sexuality leads to nothing. It is not immoral but it is unproductive. We can deliver it for the time we do not want to produce. But only chastity is linked to personal progress."

I will take you up on your offer to pray for my chastity and well being as I will for yours.
