I masturbated by grabbing my dick and moving up and down. I forget how the sensation felt but it was like not gripping forcefully. Trying to slide up and down and using cum as lubricant. I dunno?

Hard to say. Whatever feels different and somewhat tighter than real sex could be seen as deathgrip.
You realize you are deathgripping if you don't get much sensation from real sex. Some guys can't "complete" with their wife, GF, etc...

Yeah but is that deathgrip or is deathgrip something where they grab tight around the dick, almost squeezing it?

Yeah, that's the best way to masturbate, especially if you have a natural penis - the foreskin will keep the helmet or glans penis moist and there will be not need for an artificial lubricant - the first man Adam wasn't given a tube of lube by God!

The death grip is usually done by forming a fist round your cock and roughly and rapidly jerking it up & down till you cum.

Then that's death grip. What's wrong with death grip if it's a natural way to jerk off?

The main problem most guys find with death grip is that kills off sensitivity. It's not as bad as prone masturbation but I used to edge a lot so extended sessions with death grip was not a good combination. I've been doing NoFap for over two months now and I can rub the glans (whilst washing) and feel barely anything. I remember before death gripping that the slightest touch of the glans was really sensitive. I really hope it comes back!

Do people recover sensitivity in the penis after abstaining from PMO using deathgrip or prone or not really? I don't get it. I thought every man stimulates their dick with deathgrip to get off.

Does it have anything to do with dopamine receptors in the penis for sensitivity?

I think it's in the brain. It gets so used to vigorous stimulation that it gets rewired to not react to the stimulation anymore.

Dopamine again? Probably why I can't get aroused normally?

No @Anonymous86, "death grip" is not a natural way to masturbate!

In your opening post you said when you masturbated it was like "not gripping forcefully", just trying to "slide up and down". That is a much more gentle and natural way to masturbate. Holding the penis more loosely and sliding your foreskin back and forth over the ridge (corona) on the head of your cock. That is completely different to the "death grip"!
Bear in mind, that masturbating is intended to mimic the movement or thrusting of the penis inside the vagina or rectum. The anal sphincter (muscle) is quite tight, but it still exerts much less pressure on your cock during intercourse than a frenzied "death grip" with your fist!

So I wasn't doing "death grip" then? I was doing it the natural way? What's the "death grip" then?

Besides the firmness of the grip, its also the speed you use. The stroke is often much quicker with your hand than if you were using your hips. And just the fact that the inside of your hand is is different from a vagina - not as smooth or soft - there's more direct friction even if you are gentle. Not encouraging this, nor have I tried it, but I wonder of a good quality simulated vaginal device would be better in this regard.

In my personal opinion, a fleshlight is an artificial device and, therefore, should not be encouraged. Abstain - that's all.

So is it reversible, can sensitivity be back normal again after couple months of hard mode reboot???

    Of course it can!

You need to reframe the things in your life that are connected with pleasure. Masturbation, alone, should not be an option. Sex is a goal, but part of a human relationship.

Interesting how this closes the loop that leads us back to the link between isolation and addiction. We've come to use porn as a sort of one-sided relationship that in the end slowly deprives us from getting the sensations, the feelings and even the satisfaction back. There's nothing gained except dependency and instant gratification plus a cohort of unhealthy feelings.

As opposed to a "natural" (and healthy) human relationship, where it's a constant exchange and balancing act where giving and receiving are key, at the expense of instant gratification and dependency.
