111 Days of NoFap

    I'm surprised I made it this far and almost close to 4 months. This is an accomplishment. Now, I am not going to write too much. I do notice benefits from NoFap such as increased confidence, better sleeping, better posture, and more aggressive (good or bad). More benefits, you must wait for, and must work for yourself. 90 days doesn't heal you even half the recovery. That's a big myth perpetuated around on the forum. Real healing will probably take about a year, even 2 years.

    I'm still dreading the long flatline. I had it for about 3 months, and I know it won't end any time soon. But, I use it as a free ride, and I use it for discipline. Uncomfortable feelings is what makes you more resilient. Use it for positive reinforcements in your life.

    Tips:

    Do not take peeks. Porn is like a bag of chips, both super processed, once you have that one bite of that chips, you want another one. You were hungrier than before when you had that bag of chips. And you can't stop yourself, until your high is over. If you peek at porn, you're now craving it more than you would before.

    If you do accidentally see some porn material on Facebook/Instagram/anything etc., immediately scroll through and X out. Don't let it phase you, it doesn't mean anything if it was unintentional, so don't think about it, and don't dwell on it.

    Go outside more. You will enjoy life for the little stuff.

    Listen to music you truly like. Kills my urges alot.

    Eat spicy food/hot sauce/cold showers/etc.

    Hot sauce (especially the "Fear" one, taste like crap, but extremely spicy and hot, you must take the pain for about 10 minutes, then you will get you an adrenaline buzz which will definitely make you feel like a God. I do that when I have urges sometimes. Can't really be jacking it while your mouth is on fire, jus saying.

    Cold showers, does minimizes urges a bit, but you does put you into an uncomfortable situation, and your testosterone can actually raise %30 after leaving it. I should start getting back to it again.

    Simply eating healthier and fasting will also kickstart the recovery process. People fap to feel better, when you're not doing your diet and exercise, of course, you're gonna feel like crap. Eating healthy foods like broccoli, most vegetables, you will feel better. And go out for a run an hour a day at a time.

    I will continue on this journey, and may have a 5 month update out later to see if anything has change. Until then, peace.

    Great post, I know what you mean about the flat line, still in mine as well but it is like a free pass, urges are very low, and everything else of course. keep going good luck to you.

    Good job man, accidently saw some triggering things today when I was watching a movie with a buddy but luckily I just zoned out and didnt think about it that much, gotta be careful with what you might see... anyways good luck man =)

    is a curse and a blessing. But, you must keep your guard up high because I can predict my sexual drive being a hormonal teenage boy will come back with a vengeance. Best of luck with you too.

    Yes, health and exercise is the literally the catalyst of self-driven genuine happiness. Don't leech on artificial happiness. You don't need porn. Best of luck to you, too.

    I agree that the healing process takes longer than 90, but 90 definitely gets you to a new place. I will hit 160 this afternoon.
    Regarding the spicy food idea - I have often noted that when people talk about sushi, they do so in a different way. I think it's because of Wasabi, a water based spice (horseradish) that tastes good, and hits strong - even in your sinuses. You add it to the meal in soy sauce. It hits your tongue, but when you breathe out it also hits your sinuses. Oil based spices don't hit the sinuses, they tend to traumatize the tongue for 10 minutes. Because of the powerful hit to the sinuses, the body defends itself by releasing dopamine as a pain reliever - think of how you feel after a good sneeze - you feel amazing. Wasabi, when you add a lot to soy sauce and dip it, gives taste, gives "sinus trauma" and a natural dopamine reaction. When you drink water it goes away immediately.

    I am a big supporter of cold showers. I'd did I for 100 days straight and I am just getting back to them this week. Yesterday I did 2 cold showers for the mental benefit. It forces your intellect and will to challenge your emotion. The emotion is demanding comfort (hot water) but the intellect and will have to speak up and act. When I was struggling with PMO 5 months ago I let my emotions tell my intellect and will what to do. I did not realize that the intellect and will had the capacity to overwhelm the emotion's authority. I was a slave to the emotions fear. Fear of discomfort. Fear of whether or not the discomfort would pass. A thought would hit and my emotion would yell out "this urge will never go away. Find porn now or make a plan to find porn tonight so that this anxiety will go away". I lived like this for YEARS. I know now, from exercising my intellect and will, that urges do pass, that "build up" does go away without PMO (through urinating), and having done this exercize of intellect and will so many times - that it works. I let my intellect speak internally to the emotion, saying "NO - WE ARE NOT GOING THERE - PMO IS NOT AN OPTION " I speak with authority to the emotion. If an image hits my imagination or memory, I will say "NOPE NOPE NOPE, WE ARE NOT GOING THERE. " I use the "we" because the emotion is a good part of me - but it has no sense of right and wrong. That's where my intellect teaches the emotion. And my emotion responds well to intellect and will.

    The cold showers wake up intellect and will. Emotion will say "hot water, now!!" Intellect and will say. GRRRR!!! I EAT COLD SHOWERS FOR LUNCH!!! It is impossible to step under a cold shower if you don't go through this exercize. Without intellect and will taking charge, your emotions with be authoritative and you will always give in to hot water. You will rationalize to do cold showers tomorrow - just like dealing with PMO. I got away from cold showers for about 6 weeks, and I find that I am battling more urges. My double showers yesterday helped me sleep like a baby. Woke up well rested and extremely confident.

    Case in point - I unintentionally saw a triggery image at the bottom of a YouTube page 2 days ago. I immediately scrolled down. My emotion started to demand the memory of the image and I brought in the strong Hammer of intellect and will. I was on it. Throughout the day, my emotion would suggest the memory but I exercized intellect and will. Every time it cut the urge. The next day, the battle was over - my emotions stopped pushing the memory.

    Anyway - I wanted to affirm the benefits of cold showers. I would never be where I am had I not practiced "cold shower therapy". It has been a big part of my reboot process. Only a part, but a big part. Anyone reading this who says "no way, I could never do that" - well I said the same thing when I first heard about cold showers.

    At the same time I also USED to say, "there is no way that I will ever win the PMO battle..."

    I also have low moods, very up and down, I been in mine for nearly 3 months, just hoping it gets better soon.

    Probably a mood swing. I don't anybody, too much, likes doing chores. But, you have to do it.

    No motivation during a flat line will be temporary, you just got to work on it and ride it out.

    Yes, sorta. Depression feelings come and go, I just exercise or hang out with friends.

    Thanks for the motivation I read that it can take up to 2 years to get out of the flatline so keep going I'm almost at 3 months we can do this we're only getting better & stronger everyday that's the way I look at it
