Small talk with young man on smartphone

I wouldn't talk to somebody who is staring in their phone. To me it just shows that person is engaged into something else and probably would not reciprocate well cos of that. But then again, today everybody is with one eye in a phone. They do it automatically and it does not necessary mean that they are closed for communication. But it feels that way anyways.

not much a person can do without being annoying. He's deliberately avoiding people.

 

yeah, that is the feeling I get.

 

It is just sad to see people running around like zombies with the eye on their smartphone all the time.
No one is talking to each other, even people sitting on a table with their friends and family are starin at their phone

To come to your question: Either he was really busy, or what I believe - he was just looking at his phone because well, everyone stares at their phone nowadays

 

The irony is I'm reading this on my smartphone.

This person would have been incapable of small talk anyway.

Or he could already have a girlfriend and is talking to her?!

Seriously people, we need to stop judging people like this. It's unhealthy.

 

I've observed people in waiting lines get their phones out and simply stare at the home screen for minutes, wanting to look busy haha.
The modern person is such a wimp.

You could try and make convo, and see if they are open or not. Often times people are open to a real-life interaction because it is much more fulfilling, but they protect themselves by just staying on their phone.



MY EXPERIENCE:

I was about to approach a lady that was about to look at her phone, and i told her

" Excuse me, can I talk to you for a second before you get on your phone"

She really smiled and we had a great conversation.

Often times people want a real-life interaction, but since they can't have it, they go back to their phones.

This isn't always true though!
