As the title suggests, I believe over masturbation and continuous edging 1-4 hours each session, with heightened and sustained surges of dopamine caused my dick to go dead and my brain to fry in the space of a few days. I don't believe watching porn itself could cause such quick-onset damage to my brain.

Before February when my dick stopped working to anything and my libido disappeared, I did sometimes struggle to get turned on by naked girls in the bedroom with me, but that was a little bit of PIED mixed with lots of performance anxiety. Yeah it was annoying but after having sex finally with someone, I wouldn't experience those issues again.

However, I believe my masturbation habits were much more damaging to me neurologically that watching too much porn, and edging is really to blame for this sexless year I now live in. After Feb, I found it quite easy to give up porn. I'd even cut down on in quite a bit over the November/December period beforehand. Although I loved Porn, I could still eventually get hard with someone at the thought of impending blowjobs or sex. So perhaps porn wasn't the real issue for me?

Yeah I hear ya'. I think watching porn does increase anxiety and blurs the way you see life, so regardless of if its porn that's the main issue it'll probably reduce the anxiety. That's what I'm hoping anyway--!

Killing your dick with "over masturbation" is a myth.
But you can reactivate your porn pathways in your brain (which are huge) by masturbating while deactivating your normal, real sex pathways.

From what I have learned I imagine PIED is more like a switch. You need to abstain for a long time to get rid of the switch. When I edge or M it sets me back. It rebuilds the "switch".
Maybe we can never masturbate ever again.

perhaps not masturbation but edging is the real danger. It's so unnatural.

I think masturbation in normal amounts is fine and healthy. But edging every day for hours on end is really damaging. That heightened dopamine surge is too much.

Edging can desensitize, that's true. When we are cured and have rewired we might get away with masturbation once in a while.
Guys who never watched porn in their lives can masturbate as often as they want without getting ED. It's just the porn pathways.

I masturbated continually to excess to porn videos, mags, HBO, thoughts, from 13-29, never had an issue with getting erect. I had some great sex with women, escorts, and GF's. Amazing sex. I never had an issue getting erect, never. I don't mean to flatter myself and I say this cause it's best to be honest here. I'm well endowed and I recall so many times women who I was about to have sex with seeing my penis for the first time saying, wow you're big. Point of that is I was rock hard when I took off my pants to have sex. I am 42 now and have had porn ED since I was 30. For 13 years I have suffered with this. I can't get hard for sex or stay hard. No, to much masturbation will not cause an issues. But doing it to porn will.

Without porn guys would never masturbate anywhere near as much as they do now. It's like obesity - you barely see obesity in the wild and yet over 10% of the World's population are obese. It's because we eat past the point of natural satiety with unnatural foods which make it easier to overeat. We do exactly the same with porn - we use unnatural stimulation to push our brains past the point of sexual satiety. The problem really is porn related which leads to unnatural amounts of masturbation.

A lot of guys who fap a lot (even to porn) never have ED. What they all have in common is that they also have sex with real girls at the same time.
Once the sex stops but the porn use continues... ED will set in.
My understanding is: once you wired to porn and do not have any sex you are going to develop ED. Once porn took an effect on you any stimulation keeps you in that ED state, maybe even real sex. Until you are rebooted (maybe even after that, won't volunteer to find out).
This is the basics and it's crucial: porn creates new pathways in your brain, specifically addiction pathways. Getting your fix will over time cause your reward center to close dopamine receptors. More dopamine (porn escalation, more frequent use, heavier genre) is required to get that same fix and to even achieve an erection.
Some guys reach a point where they cannot get an erection to anything at all. Not even with pills.

A reboot kills off that porn addiction pathway over time. It also makes your brain restore dopamine receptors. So I stand by my argument. Masturbation is harmful... to a person who has developed a porn pathway and has already a lack of dopamine receptors, because then stimulation will keep you from recovering.
    Good luck.

Wow dude! There's nothing inherently wrong with masturbation. Masturbation to pornography is the issue here. Don't give people the wrong message here.

That is your personal view @Anonymous86, but I agree with @Adamk2394.
I consider masturbation to be unnatural. I masturbated for 30 years before I saw any porn and it totally screwed me up! :(

Masturbation is natural. Everyone masturbates. How can that "screw you up"? The porn screws you up.

Is this website an anti-masturbation website?

Masturbation is normal, natural, and fine. Doing anything in excess will hurt you.

    Bottom line.
