P.S. This Is a Mental Illness

PMO is a mental illness. It's a disease. It's bad. Fight it or it will kill you and all that matters.

I'm keeping that reality in the forefront of my mind because I'm in kind of a bad place. I'm over two months out from the last time I indulged in the garbage of PMO. In fact, I haven't just entirely avoided porn; I've entirely avoided masturbation. That's a first for me because, while I've had many stints of 30 to 60 days away from porn over the last decade or so, I have never abstained from masturbation this long since the time I first started masturbating -- almost 30 years ago now. But, once again, I find myself in that dangerous space where my mind has been swirling with thoughts of my past PMO ventures. It strikes me, now more than ever before, that this is a mental illness, a disease that spreads and eats away at my mind like a cancer each time I indulge in the chemically artificial experience of porn and, in my case at least, even just masturbation.

I will keep reminding myself: I am sick and have been sick for years as a PMO addict. I need to heal and I can only do that so long as I stay sober.
