    Hi, came here via /r/nofap and I'm looking forward making changes in my life for the better. I'm tired of continuously letting my urges get the better of me. I've lost too much time and energy and I don't want to let this happen anymore. Through the help and guidance of NoFap, I'm ready to start operating above these urges.

    Hey, thanks for the reply brother. I hear you. In the past, I feel like my eyes may have been open, but only for brief windows of time. Small glimpses into what I wanted myself to be like. And as soon as I relapsed, I'd be overwhelmed with guilt and continue to procrastinate and ignore my responsibilities. Just an overall shitty feeling. What a nasty cycle really.

    Ever since I came across nofap, I've been reading a lot about mindfulness and how to deal with the thoughts we have. By letting my feelings and thoughts just float around and not attaching myself to one or the other, I think now my eyes are wide open and I'm really going to try and elevate myself.

    I know there are tough times ahead, and that these urges will try to find ways to pierce my armor and drag me through the mud. I refuse to let it happen this time. I can't afford to piss away my time and energy anymore.

    The urges will surface again when I may be most vulnerable, but I'll be ready to NOT give them the time of day.

    Welcome to NoFap where you are amongst friends who are here to encourage you and not judge you.

    What are your current strategies for combating the enemy called PMO?

    @D . J .
    Thank you for the welcome. Although I'm new to the community, I'm all too familiar with the struggle and the urges.
    As of now, I've got a few simple strategies that I hope to use against PMO.

    1. Mindfulness. Just breathing and being able to look at my thoughts objectively. That seems to help a lot and was not something I had ever done before.
    2. Keeping a journal. Haven't done it before and I can already feel the positive effects of documenting my thoughts immediately.
    3. Keeping active by pursuing my professional interests and not giving into paralysis or stagnation. Some days are better than others.
    4. Pushups and Pullups. As soon as I feel the urge, I start doing as many pushups or pullups as I can. This one really helps me get off my ass and do something about the urges which I like. Once I started attempting pushups, I noticed that it immediately cuts the urge down. Anything works really.. pushups, pullups, squats, planks, stretching. Whatever forces you to bring your presence of mind away from the urge and to the task at hand.
    5. Cold showers. Still haven't gotten use to it but I'm trying.
